I can run with your doggies!
I am a Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive (LIMA) certified dog trainer with the CPDT-KA. I practice using a humane, evidence-based approach prioritizing positive reinforcement to modify dog behavior. I generally focus on identifying motivations, managing environments, and using the least stressful, non-punitive methods possible to achieve training goals. I have always enjoyed caring for dogs and bringing peace to busy homes. I have experience with the biggest, the roughest, and the toughest dogs because all they really need is love, company, and exercise to be the happiest and sweetest pups. I’d like to be there to help your ball of fur be a healthy and happy dog. I have had plenty of my own dogs and I am well read on K-9 behaviors that have helped me to remain calm and focused on all dogs I have come across thus far. I am committed to ensuring a safe and fulfilling walk/run for any dog of any size and have experience with a multitude of preferential leashes, harness, diets, and walk schedules. I hope if anything, I can simply be a companion to your pup. I have no restrictions regarding house rules. As long as we keep a flow of communication I'm sure I will be able to accommodate whatever you and your pet need.

Safety, trust & environment
I am available to care for your family fur-baby in your home or on walks/runs in and around your neighborhood. Safety and compatibility is always necessary for everyone involved. Upon meeting, I am interested in what makes you and your dog feel safe with me and how to keep both your dog and I safe based on your personal experience and mine. In turn, I require emergency contact information and information on your dog's health to include potential separation anxiety behaviors and possible signs of distress when separated from you as well as any allergies, behavioral quirks, possible threshold issues, and good/bad/indifferent interactions with other dogs/animals. In my experience, on-leash interactions with other dogs is avoided.

Mara's ease and confidence during our consultation transferred to her care for my pup. Her follow up is excellent and if you need a house sitter to care for your fur people while out of town, her comms and care of your home are another gift!

Mara was great both with our dogs and with flexibility in our busy graduation weekend schedule! Our dogs haven’t had much experience with other caregivers, and they trusted her quickly and enjoyed their time with her. She was able to take each of their unique needs and personalities in mind when planning for their care each day! 10/10 would recommend!
Mara's experience as a trainer and gentle nature has been a treat for Jack and I. We're new to house sitting and while Jack was well cared for during her stay, her updates and feedback helped us to orient > gain confidence in the process. She left no trace in my home and I was greeted by a widely smiling pooch :)
Thank you Mara for looking in on Pumpkin while I was away! I love that you found little enrichment things for him to do :) came home to a happy, healthy kitty and my house like no one had even been there!

Schedule
I have a strategic open availability as I have recently returned to the U.S.A. from living abroad. I do provide training opportunities after a successful meet and greet and thorough assessment. Dog walks depend on your dog's specific level of exercise. I enjoy providing customized experiences to meet each dog’s unique needs.
