Pet care experience
Hi Pet Parents! My mother was a dog trainer, so I grew up in the loving presence of our four-legged best friends my entire life. Our specialty as a family was taking in "rescue dogs"--dogs that were abused, stranded, or "unwanted" by their owners--and rehabilitating them back to their best selves, with love and care, making them a part of the family in our warm home. We typically had 3 or 4 dogs at a time personally, but I was regularly around other trainers and groups that had multiple dogs, all interacting at the same time--so the quantity of animals doesn't scare me. I've been taking care of pets, but specifically dogs--of all shapes and sizes--since I was 6, taking on the joyful responsibility of feeding, grooming, bathing, walking, training, and of course loving and playing with multiple breeds from a young age. Though I am not a trainer myself, I learned from a young age about the different breeds, their personalities and how to interact with them, as well as how they interacted with each other. In addition to dogs we also had two horses (arabians), that I rode, showed, boarded, and took care of from a young age as well. I'm a natural when it comes to dogs, horses, and animals in general and would consider myself a bit of a dog whisper and horse whisper. I just have a way with them and know how to communicate with them. Add that natural talent to my experience, and you have someone uniquely qualified to take care of your four-legged family members. My long experience with horses taught me about non-verbal communication. Working with horses is almost completely non-verbal..it's a dance and it's one based on respect and love. A horse is not a thing to be owned or ridden..it is a noble, living, intelligent being whose trust must be earned and a dancer that you partner with. Working with dogs is very similar, though the syntax is different with dogs, for dogs are heard animals. Working with dogs is still all about energy, and each dog is unique. I love everything about dogs--from their capacity for joy, love, and complex emotions to their personalities to their role as teachers--what they can teach us about ourselves as humans--and of course their adorableness. I look forward to caring for your friends and getting to know their unique selves. Thank you.

Excellent care & communication!

MacKenzie was fantastic with our pups and our house. He checks in regularly and sends the cutest pics. House was clean and well taken care of during his stay. Pups were happy and healthy upon our return! It is hard to to leave our dogs on long trips but we felt at ease knowing MacKenzie was taking good care of them.

MacKenzie was amazing. He kept us updated on our fur gang regularly and made sure to send lots of photos. I would highly recommend MacKenzie.
This was our dogs’ second stay with MacK. We came home to relaxed, happy dogs and a well-kept house. Great communication throughout our trip out of town.
