A green dog paradise (Gein-Gaasperdam)
The home is surrounded by lush green fields, beautiful parks/nature, a dog beach and lots of other happy dogs to play with in the area! My love for dogs goes as far as my childhood, but I never really had the chance and opportunity to actually own one. My life revolves around traveling at the moment and so it doesn't seem fair to have a dog around while i'm not there. Therefore I have volunteered at the Dog Shelter (DOA) and I started fostering dogs from abroad (on occation) and have made lots of new furry friends through this app! Even though I have hosted dogs for over 5 years and worked as a volunteer in the DOA shelter, I’m still learning new things about dogs every day! I am familiar with their body language, I can administer medicines and I have experience with braces & wheelchairs, dogs with a 'backpack' (such as dogs from abroad or a shelter, dogs with anxiety or non-social with other dogs or strangers). I have a calm aproach with all dogs and let them adjust in their own pace, providing a loving temporary home while the owners are away. I work half days (or have appointments) and would be away for about 2 - 4 hours but I will have time to take your dog to beautiful places around! The dog beach at Gaasperplas is one of my favorites and i have multiple nature routes where dogs can go off leash and run around. I love the outdoors, taking long walks, go for a run, the beach and ofcourse cuddles. It would be a pleasure to include your dog in as much of my activities as I can! I live in an appartment on the 1st floor without an elevator, so its important that your dog can walk stairs or is small enough to be carried up and down. The neighbourhood is calm and green without much traffic in front of the home. Languages: Dutch & English

Superfijn contact gehad met Maartje tijdens Bodhi zijn verblijf. Ze stuurde veel fotos en ik had echt het idee dat Bodhi het naar zijn zin had. Ik vond het spannend om Bodhi bij iemand achter te laten omdat hij een rugzakje heeft. Het is een onzekere hond die hierdoor oa best kan uitvallen naar andere honden. We zijn hier flink mee aan het trainen maar als hij een aantal vervelende ervaringen heeft kan al die training snel teniet gedaan worden. Gelukkig was dit niet het geval bij Maartje. Bodhi heeft geen vervelende ervaring gehad en dit zie ik terug in zijn reacties op andere honden nu we eenmaal weer thuis zijn. Wat ik ook heel fijn vond is dat er eerlijk gecommuniceerd word. Als Bodhi bijvoorbeeld iets lastig vond word dit gewoon gezegd ipv verborgen gehouden.
Great dog sitter, super friendly with the us and the dogs. The dogs really enjoyed the walks and spending time with Maartje. She has been very flexible with our challenging post holiday travel schedule. Also enjoy reading her cards and seeing the pictures. Highly recommend!
Maartje took good care of Romy. She also sent plenty of pictures and updates.

Schedule
I'm home most part of the day, but will also need to leave sometimes for work or appointments. I love to spend my days walking in nature or visit the beach or a terrace. I'd like to take dogs whenever I can (also depending on the nature of the dog ofcourse).

Safety, trust & environment
The apartment is safe and spacious, with 2 fenced balconies. I won't let your dog unguarded on the balcony and I have 2 differend sized crates (1 small and 1 big) available if necessary.
A typical day
I love to walk around the Gaasperplas and stop at the dog beach for playtime with other dogs (1,5 hour walk) or go around the Gaasperzoom or Hoge Dijk. There is plenty of green in the direct neighbourhood to play ball or just go for a run. Another thing I can guarantee is loads of cuddles and games. :)
