Pet care experience

Brit Abroad, Missing Furry Friends

I’m not just here to watch over pets — I’m here because I genuinely miss having animals in my daily life. Growing up in the UK, I was always surrounded by dogs, and moving to Squamish left a furry-shaped gap that I love to fill by caring for other people’s pets. I’m not just here to watch over pets — I genuinely miss having animals in my daily life. I moved to Canada in January this year and have been caring for pets through trusted house sitters, giving me hands-on experience with a variety of dogs and their unique needs.

Lydia and Hugh were great! They took wonderful care of my dog and were good with communication. I was able to meet them before hand as well and do a walk with the dog to get him use to them which was helpful. Would be pleased to have them dog sit for me again. :)

Lydia is an absolute SUPERSTAR!! She’s been looking after Margo for over 5 years with such care, love, and attention that I feel completely at ease whenever I’m away. From walks to playtime to simply keeping Margo happy and comfortable at home, Lydia goes above and beyond. She’s reliable, kind, and genuinely understands animals — Margo ADORES her!!! Communication is effortless, and she always keeps me updated, which gives me total peace of mind. I couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Calendar and availability

Schedule

Pets have always been a big part of mine and my partners lives, but we can’t have one of our own — it would make it harder to move back to the UK, and our parents would be unhappy! I work as an emergency manager and am in the office once a week, but the rest of the time I’m fully available for walks, play, and cuddles. My partner, a software engineer who works from home, is also an animal lover, so there’s always someone around. We’re both trail runners, so energetic dogs get plenty of outdoor adventure on Squamish’s trails.
