Pet care experience

I love all types of pets!

Please be aware, if you were directed to me from any area other than the ones listed below, I am deeply sorry for any inconvenience, but the service area settings are very basic. For example, I can’t exclude upper Marin without losing the Peninsula 🥺). Thank you for having considered me. I provide overnight/housesitting service only in Sausalito; San Francisco; the Oakland/Berkeley area; the Peninsula from Daly City to Belmont/San Carlos. Drop-in visits are restricted to San Francisco and Daly City/Colma. I have over twenty-eight years of experience pet- and house-sitting for friends and relatives, and have yet to encounter a situation I couldn't handle. I've never met a pet I couldn’t love! Over the years, I've cared for a variety of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and even spiders. My prices are negotiable, dependent on the amount of time required and the duties expected. I am happy to text or email photos to you during my stay. I'm certified in Pet First Aid and CPR by the San Francisco SPCA. Why I love pet sitting I've always loved animals. I've nearly always had at least one cat in my home and when I was a child, I had a dog of my own. At various times, I’ve also had reptiles and rodents, and participated in the care & spoiling of my friends' and relatives' pets. My experience administering medication: I’ve had considerable experience administering a variety of medical treatments, including subcutaneous hydration. I have also had a good deal of experience caring for senior pets and those with special needs. Assisting them with mobility limitations and dealing with continence issues are not a problem, though in severe cases I may charge a bit more.

Safety, trust & environment

Please note that I will not allow a dog in my care to be off-leash outside of the home except in an enclosed yard or dog park. Likewise, I prefer to sit indoor-only cats, though I would be happy to feed any feral cats you may be hosting in your yard, etc. I also do not generally allow animals to eat "people food," though I will make exceptions upon request. I do understand that some clients have special treats that their pets become accustomed to, and I wouldn't want them to feel deprived.

My husband and I feel fortunate to have chosen Loretta as our cat-sitter during a 10-day trip. Loretta is clearly very experienced caring for pets, and we got reassuring photos every day. She is also a good communicator; our meet-and-greet was very helpful, and she returns texts quickly. When we returned home, our cat had been well cared for and our home looked very neat. In fact, we later realized Loretta had vacuumed the entire flat right before we returned home. Next time we need to take a trip, we hope Loretta will be available to care for our cat.

Loretta stayed with our dog for almost a week. He was well taken care of and the house looked as clean as the day we left! Communication before and during the trip was easy as well.

I was a bit of a nervous Nellie trying a new person at my new place for almost a week. Loretta took great care of my dog and the place looked great when I returned. She's also responsive, has a calm presence around animals, and I will definitely add her to my dogsitter roster!

Loretta met with me for an hour in preparation for her stay with my kitties. She asked great questions and really seemed to get my cats’ needs and personalities. I was happy to find a clean apartment and happy kitties when I got home!

Schedule

If I'm providing house-sitting services, I can generally give them as much attention as required. My other job is primarily online, and the hours are very flexible. Care visits are 30 minutes long. After attending to the pet's food, water, etc., I spend the remainder of the time petting, playing, or just spending time with them. The same idea applies to care visits for dogs, cats, or any other social animal. If you feel your pet would benefit from a full hour or more of attention, I don’t charge for the second half-hour, and the fee for each additional half-hour is only $5 + Rover fees. This applies up to 3 extra hours; beyond that, I charge a flat fee of $60).

I have no prejudice toward any animal on the basis of its breed, or even its species. I've met many lovable pit bulls and reptiles along the way. I do ask that you be completely honest with me about any issues your pet has, and unless it's a last-minute emergency booking, I would like to meet you and your pets to get acquainted prior to caring for them. The more I know about your pet, the better care I can provide.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
