Excited to make any dog happy!

Pet care experience

I'm so excited to interact with fellow dog lovers and their best friends! I understand that owners can't be with their dog-friends all of the time like they'd want to. I'm honored to help fill in so that the dog never has to go without companionship. I’ve had the joy of assisting in the care of many dogs. I volunteered for a year at the local animal hospital where I learned how to hold and comfort animals I didn't know. I fed, walked and gave medication to various dogs, cats and rabbits. I've learned to give shots and take blood for a glucose monitor. I even got to sit in on a routine surgery. I’ve had dogs since I was four years old; in order, I've had Marty (a very calm Keeshond-Husky mix), DJ (a very serious black German Shepherd) and most recently, Sampson (a powerfully playful mahogany German Shepherd). Up to this point, I've been taking care of other dogs: Shadow, a very crazy boxer. Kacey, the most zen German shepherd I've ever met (we reached peace after he bit me and we made up). There's been a Maltipoo next door named Kona who has taught me his very special way of speaking. I've played with a Canadian Papillon mix named Gromit, tried to keep up with some Golden Retrievers, got knocked down by a Great Dane named Axel, and did some blanket digging with two rat terriers. I love to take pictures of dogs. I've got both a good serious camera and good portable camera. I plan to send pictorial documentation of all of our adventures (videos, if a picture doesn't manage to capture all the fun). I'll attach these with regular updates to the doggy parent.

Lauren was great. At the meet and greet, she was very comfortable with Veda and Veda liked her right away and she’s usually a pretty shy girl. She sent me updates for each visit, which gave me peace of mind. I’ll definitely book with you again!

Lauren did a great job with Bettis! He was relaxed when I got home and though I know he missed me I know he was very well cared for and didn’t want for anything. The pictures and videos Lauren sent were great!

Lauren took great care of my two babies over the weekend. I was so nervous leaving them because it was my first time using Rover and I’ve never left them with someone other than family. Starting from the meet and greet, Lauren was professional and very patient/gentle with my dogs. She tried her best to gain their trust and made sure they were well taken care of. Lauren followed all the directions I gave her and went above and beyond to make sure one of my dog’s got their medicine 12 hours apart. She did all this while balancing her job at Starbucks but always made me feel like my dogs were her priority. Also, despite the amount of times I texted her she never made me feel like I was bothering her. Lauren is a great sitter and if you book her, you will not regret it all. Thank you for Lauren for all that you did this weekend. My doggies and I appreciate you!!

Lauren took excellent care of Bishop. He is a rescue dog and usually struggles with a high to moderate level of separation anxiety whenever we go away for more than a day. When we got home, Bishop was relaxed, happy, and his usual goofy self. This has never happened with anyone else. I can not recommend Lauren highly enough. We will be utilizing her services again.

Information Lauren M. would like to know about your pet

I've been raised around big dogs and enjoy small dogs, so I don't have breed preferences. I'm interested in learning to care for them all. I like to do a meet and greet with all my clients. I'd love to see how you interact with your dog-friend and observe the dog's personality. I'd like you to tell me what the daily schedule is like, what the dog is allowed or not allowed to do, food they are allergic to, fears, obsessions to be aware of. Is the dog fairly social or is he/she a dark, mysterious loner? Do they need medicine or have other medical issues that need tending to? I want to feel like I've discovered the dog's Instagram page and learned all about them.

A typical day

This is what a day might look like if your dog stays with me: We'd wake up and eat breakfast, chatting about the latest news items and our opinions. We'd go to class together or ditch class and go to the beach. We, of course, will stay close to land as I'm learning to be a stronger swimmer. After that, we'll have a shower and a bath. Some lunch and a nap. Perhaps a second nap? Then maybe a walk or a game of "who can keep the ball longest" and find out who'll be crowned "Kobe Bryant". After this, I'll either go to work and the dog will stay with my very qualified parents and nap or watch a movie. Or if I have the night off, we'll fall asleep watching some Star Trek. Then we'll wake up and do it again! There's a lighthouse in Palos Verdes, CA that is my happy place. We can go there to walk or relax. There are two big fenced-in dog parks near me, as well. This way the dog can run and go long so I can practice being Peyton Manning. I work at a Starbucks so I know all the doggie friendly treats there. Maybe we can take a leisurely stroll around my neighborhood (no big streets, just cul-de-sacs). Or we can play fetch or tug-o-war in my backyard. It isn't big, but it's clean and secure with some nice shade. We can take some time to commune with the resident hummingbirds there.
