Safety, trust & environment

I provide pet care directly in your home, helping your pet stay comfortable in their familiar environment while you're away. This includes drop-in visits, feeding, litter box cleaning, playtime, walks, and any other routine care your pet needs. Staying in their own home helps reduce stress for pets, especially cats and animals that do better with consistency. I’m happy to follow your instructions closely to make sure everything stays as close to their normal routine as possible while you're gone.

Information Kyrstin D. would like to know about your pet

It’s helpful to know their daily routine, feeding schedule, and any medications they may need. I also like to understand their personality—whether they are shy, social, energetic, or prefer quiet time alone. Any behavioral notes, such as reactivity, separation anxiety, or specific triggers, are very important so I can adjust my approach accordingly. For dogs, I like to know leash manners, walking preferences, and how they respond to other dogs or people. For cats, it’s helpful to know their favorite hiding spots, play style, and litter box habits. I also appreciate any information about favorite toys, treats, or things that help them feel calm and secure. Lastly, I always ask about emergency contacts, vet information, and any house rules or routines you’d like me to follow. My goal is to make sure your pet’s care feels consistent and stress-free while you're away.

A typical day

For physical activity, I enjoy walks, playtime with toys, fetch, gentle exercise for senior pets, and any breed-specific activities that help them safely burn energy and stay healthy. For cats, this can include interactive wand toys, climbing play, and short bursts of active play that match their natural hunting instincts. For mental stimulation, I focus on enrichment activities like puzzle toys, treat games, sniff work, basic training reinforcement, and interactive play that encourages problem-solving. For cats, I also enjoy activities like chasing toys, exploring new textures or spaces, and engaging their curiosity in safe, stimulating ways.

Pet care experience

Hi! I'm a lifelong animal lover with over 20 years of hands-on experience caring for pets of all kinds. I've owned and cared for dogs since I was 8 years old and have experience with a wide range of breeds, sizes, personalities, and temperaments. Along with dogs, I've cared for cats throughout my life and have completed extended cat-sitting assignments lasting up to 8 months. My animal experience doesn't stop there—I have also cared for exotic pets, including lizards, reptiles, and birds, and have owned birds myself. I understand that every animal has unique needs, and I pride myself on adapting my care to each pet's personality and routine. One of my specialties is working with larger reactive dogs. As the owner of a reactive dog myself, I understand the importance of patience, consistency, reading body language, and maintaining a safe environment. Safety is something I take extremely seriously—for your pet, for myself, and for everyone around us. I always follow owner instructions carefully and prioritize responsible handling practices during walks, drop-ins, and house sits. Over the years, I've provided house-sitting and drop-in care for many friends and their pets, giving me experience adapting to different homes, schedules, and care requirements. Whether your pet needs a high-energy play session, medication reminders, quiet companionship, or a structured routine, I'm happy to accommodate their needs. As an added bonus, my apartment complex has a dog washing station available for baths if requested. I also love building genuine bonds with the animals I care for and occasionally leave owner-approved treats or small gifts for pets I've gotten to know well. I know how important it is to trust someone with a beloved family member, and I treat every pet in my care with the same love, attention, and respect that I give my own. I look forward to meeting you and your furry, feathered, or scaled family members!

Kyrstin did a great job with my dog! She was very professional to meet with beforehand, making sure she knew my dog's favorite treats and toys, all while giving him lots of ear scritches. She did a great job getting him out, making sure he was both intellectually and physically engaged, and on hot days when she couldnt get him outside for a long walk, she made sure to do fun brain games inside. Kyrstin really puts the effort forward and she treated my dog like he was her own.

Kyrstin loves every dog she meets and has the skills and knowledge to correct behavior as needed. She is kind and courteous to dogs and owners alike!

Kyrstin has watched my labs every time I’ve been on vacation the past few years. She checked in on them super often and never skipped a visit. I can tell she loves playing with them by how tuckered out they are when I get home 😂 It’s hard to find someone you can really trust to handle larger dogs. I always worry they’re gonna slip away on walks but she keeps a handle on them. She even taught me a better way to hold the leash when I complained about their zigzagging. I know her Shepherd went through a lot of training, and you can tell she’s taken it to heart just by watching. If you have bigger dogs and want some peace of mind, I can’t recommend Kyrstin enough!

Kyrstin has been a lifesaver with my animals! (3 Cats 1 Dog) Her and the animals bonded immediately and she’s very patient and caring! It’s such a relief to know your animals can be cared for properly and in their own home whenever you need the extra help.
