It’s very important to get to know a dog ahead of time to build trust and understand their individual needs, habits, and personality. Every dog is different some are shy, some are full of energy, and some may have specific triggers or routines that help them feel safe. Knowing these things in advance helps me provide the best care possible, whether that means adjusting the pace of a walk, avoiding certain situations, or using familiar commands. It also gives the dog time to feel comfortable with me, which is key to a positive and stress-free experience for both the dog and the owner.

I always adapt activities to each dog’s personality, age, and energy level, but fun is definitely part of the plan! For active dogs, I love going on long nature walks, playing fetch, or even doing light agility games to keep them both physically and mentally stimulated. For more relaxed or older dogs, I enjoy slow strolls, gentle play, or just spending quality time cuddling and giving them attention. If the dog is social and the owner is comfortable with it, I can also help them meet other friendly dogs during walks for some social interaction. I also like to incorporate simple enrichment games like hiding treats for them to sniff out to keep their minds engaged. Ultimately, I want every dog I take care of to feel safe, loved, and have a good time while they’re with me.
