Pet care experience

Dogs aren't pets; They're family

Finding someone to care for your pet can be stressful. You're trusting a complete stranger with your pet that means a lot to you, and I don't take that lightly. One of my favorite parts of pet sitting is getting to know both the pets and their people. I genuinely enjoy hearing about their routines, quirks, favorite toys, weird habits, and all the little things that make them who they are. Every animal is different, and good care comes from paying attention to those differences rather than treating every visit the same. I enjoy working with owners who like to communicate and ask questions. I think it's important to know who is coming into your home and caring for your pet. I don't view pet sitting as just showing up, feeding a pet, and leaving. Of course those things get done, but I also try to make sure your pet feels comfortable, safe, and cared for while you're away. Whether that's playtime, a walk, sticking to a routine, or simply spending some quiet time with them, I try to give each pet the care that works best for them. Animals have been a big part of my life for a long time. My boyfriend and I currently have a dog (Miss Athena), two cats (Bubs and Freya), two rats(Jinx and Hex), and a snake(Charlie), so I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your pets while you're away. I have experience caring for dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, fowl, goats, pigs, and other species when proper care instructions are provided. Before starting my pet sitting buisness, I worked as a bather in a grooming, boarding, and doggy daycare environment. I also fostered orphaned kittens and senior cats over the years, and Freya is my foster fail. I am comfortable caring for young animals, senior pets, and pets with medical or mobility challenges. I have experience administering oral and topical medications and I learned pet and human CPR and first aid. Safety is something I take very seriously, both for the pets in my care and for your home. If you're looking for someone who will take the time to get to know your pet and keep you updated along the way, I'd love to meet you both.

Safety, trust & environment

I’m also a pet parent, so I understand what it feels like to leave your animals with someone else. I pay attention to small changes in behavior, appetite, and energy, and I keep owners updated if anything seems off or out of routine. Fostering gave me experience recognizing stress signals and early signs of illness. I learned pet CPR and first aid, and I learned to adjust my care based on each pet’s needs. When I’m caring for pets in someone’s home, I stick closely to their normal routine. I double check doors and gates, go outside with dogs during potty breaks, and make sure entrances are secure at all times. I’m careful during transitions like coming in and out so pets stay safe and nobody escapes. I send regular updates and photos so owners can see how their pets are doing while they’re away. I also clean up after pets as needed so your home stays in good condition. I keep things consistent and predictable so your pets can stay as comfortable as possible in their normal environment.

Schedule

Pet sitting is currently my primary focus, so my schedule is fairly flexible. I am available for drop-in visits from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM and walks from 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM. If you're not sure whether a particular time will work, feel free to ask. I am often able to accommodate different schedules. I do require a meet and greet before caring for any new pet. It gives us a chance to get to know each other, go over routines, discuss expectations, and make sure everyone is comfortable before services begin. Meet and greets are available between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. For new pet owners, I generally ask for at least two days notice whenever possible. This gives us time to schedule a meet and greet and discuss your pet's care. For my returning pet owners, I can often accommodate last-minute visits and walks when my schedule allows.

Before booking, I like to know your pet’s normal routine, including feeding, potty schedule, and any medications. Please also let me know about any behavioral quirks, fears, or triggers, especially for dogs who may be reactive on walks. For walks, it’s helpful to know how your dog does on leash, including pulling, reactivity, or anything I should avoid. I also ask for your vet information, and an emergency contact, if possible. For house sitting and drop ins, I like to know where basic supplies are located, including petfood, leashes, first aid supplies, and any emergency items. It’s also helpful to be aware of any potential hazards inside or outside the home, as well as how pets are able to enter and exit the house or yard. Clear instructions for home access, alarms, and anything else I should be aware of are always appreciated.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
