Big heart for animals

We’d love to have your pet stay with us! We’re a home full of animal lovers and have been pet sitting for over four years, both through Rover and outside of Rover. One of our favorite parts of pet sitting is getting to know all the different personalities. Every pet is different, and we love learning what they enjoy and what makes them feel comfortable. We have two dogs of our own. Kiwi is our playful, social 6 month old puppy who LOVES having dog friends to play with. Kai is our senior Blue Heeler who’s more of a people guy these days but enjoys being around friendly dogs who respect his space. So whether your dog loves to play or prefers a more laid-back day, they’ll have some good company here. We live in a dog-friendly apartment complex with a paved trail and are close to a dog park. We’re happy to go by what your dog enjoys, whether that’s walks, playtime, socializing with our dogs, or just relaxing and getting lots of attention. We want your dog to have a great time with us too, like their own little vacation while you’re away! We also love taking pictures, so you can expect plenty of cute photos and updates during their stay! Since we have two dogs of our own and live in an apartment, we’re the best fit for dogs who are friendly with other dogs, aren’t highly reactive, and don’t tend to bark excessively. We also like to do a meet and greet first to make sure everyone is a good fit.

Kayla and Kyle were wonderful caretakers for our 3 year old Havanese. We went on a two week trip and wanted to be sure our pup got lots of love while we were away. Kayla and Kyle were perfect! Very communicative, very loving, set up a great schedule of care and walks. We couldn't be more impressed!

Kayla was once again wonderful with Suki. She sent photos and videos every day, and was so patient and sweet with my shy kitten.

Kayla was absolutely amazing. My little pup had a sore paw and she took extra good care of him in spite of his ailment. She was in very close contact with me throughout the stay and I felt at ease going out of town. I will definitely book Kayla again!

Kayla was so wonderful. I had to book super last minute, but she still made time to come over before I left to go over everything together. Suki is a very shy cat to strangers, but Kayla made sure get eyes on her each visit, and spent plenty of time trying to get her to come out with various toys and treats. She was very communicative and sent pictures every visit. I will absolutely be using Kayla again when I have another trip!

We are so grateful for all the love Kayla and Kyle showed our Kiwi girl while we were away! They kept her for 2 weeks while we were on our honeymoon and Kayla was so awesome at sending me pictures every single day! Kiwi had the time of her life and loved hanging out with Kai and Boltz and had a blast at all her trips to the dog park, she was truly sad to leave them all and come back home! 😆 I would recommend Kayla and Kyle to anyone and we will definitely be using them again in the future. Kiwi will be thrilled to visit again!

Schedule

Our schedules can vary from week to week. Kayla works part time about 3–4 days a week, and Kyle’s work schedule varies as well. Most of the time, at least one of us is home, so your dog will rarely be home alone for long. Sometimes it may just be one of us home, but between our different schedules, we’re able to spend a lot of time with the pets staying with us. Even though our schedules change, your dog’s routine and care stay consistent. We always make sure they get their meals on time, regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, and plenty of attention throughout their stay. Our dogs usually start their day with a potty break or walk, followed by breakfast and some playtime or relaxing. Throughout the day, we do regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, and downtime depending on everyone’s energy level. Evenings usually include dinner, another walk or potty break, time to hang out, and one last potty break before bed. We’re pretty flexible and are happy to adjust our routine to what your dog is used to as much as we can.

Safety, trust & environment

We live in an apartment where our front door opens into an indoor hallway instead of directly outside, which is especially helpful for dogs who like to sneak out the door. We don’t have a private fenced yard, so dogs are always leashed for potty breaks and walks. We always supervise when the dogs are playing together and keep an eye on how everyone is doing to make sure they’re comfortable. If someone needs a break or their own space, that’s totally fine too. We’re also happy to use a crate if you provide one. We live close to a fenced dog park, but we’ll only take your dog if you’re comfortable with it. We’ll follow your instructions and do our best to stick with the routine your dog is used to at home.

Pets

A typical day

A typical day starts with a morning potty break or walk, followed by breakfast. Throughout the day, we usually take the dogs outside about 5–6 times for potty breaks and walks, along with plenty of playtime and relaxing at home. What we do depends on what your dog enjoys! We have a paved trail right by our apartment for walks, and dogs who enjoy getting out can join us for longer walks or a trip to the nearby dog park with your permission. At home, there are plenty of toys and opportunities to play with our dogs, but there’s also plenty of time to relax if your dog prefers a more laid-back day. We usually end the evening with dinner, time to hang out, an evening walk or potty break, and one last trip outside before bed.

Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors that I should be aware of. I’d also like to know if your dog has experience with overnight boarding. If your dog has specific behaviors I need to know about, such as being an escape artist, being picky about certain things, or having favorite activities, please share those details as well! I will ask more questions during the meet and greet.
