Pet care experience

Owner of Pioneer Animal Walkers, LLC. Member of Pet Sitters International (PSI). Pet First Aid and CPCR certified. I’ve grown up around animals my whole life, from childhood gerbils, a horse and now my little urban farm at home. We have dogs, a cat, and ducks. I have been caring for my own animals for many years, but I started providing services through Rover in August 2018. Availability: Monday through Friday walks. Occasionally available on weekends. Drop ins 7 days a week, depending on time needed to visit. Location: Within the Kirkwood school district area for walks and drop ins.

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet’s safety is important. When outside of the house or fenced yard, they will be on a leash at all times. On walks I have a walking belt I attach leashes to. I bring my own poop bags. Just let me know where you want the bags deposited at the end of our walk. Hot days I will bring a water bowl and bottle (will refill at your sink) along. If your dog is elderly, flat faced or heavy coated, we will shorten our time outside to prevent overheating. Inclement weather, we modify walks based on the weather. Usually walks are shorted, turned into drop in style visits or canceled. I will have my youngest child tagging along. So all dogs must be child friendly. I will usually have my toddler in the stroller during visits and walks. Out of school hour visits, I will usually be child free.

Information Kayla B. would like to know about your pet

I do require meet and greets before any first time services. This is to ensure your dog/cat feels more comfortable with me entering your home, and to ensure they are kid friendly. What I expect from you: - Dogs and/or cats to be up to date on vaccines and prevention such as rabies, fleas, etc. This is to protect your animals as well as others. - A towel near the door, or at least easily accessible so I can wipe paws on inclement days (rain or salt on snowy days). - Easily accessible cleaning supplies for accidents. Such as pee puddles, poop or muddy paws. Just let me know your preference on what to use. - Their gear, such as prong collars, chain collars, harnesses and coats to be easily accessible for use on walks.

A typical day

What to expect: - Visits are 30 minutes long. Each visit will have their own note with what happened. - Food unless otherwise specified. - Water will be changed/refilled as needed unless otherwise specified. - Lots of loving and playing if s/he wants attention. - Walks as far as s/he can go in the 30 minute timeframe unless inclement weather or otherwise specified. - Bringing packages in if they are there when I arrive. Bringing mail in for my clients on vacation. - If visits are due to you escaping work/St. Louis, let me know what needs to be done such as trash/recycling cans to the curb, etc. - I bring my own leashes. Inclement weather such as below freezing or hot (75°+) temperatures, and heavy rain might mean we pivot to a drop in style visit. What do visits look like for inclement weather? Bathroom break for usually 5-10 minutes, inside to play/snuggle and then another bathroom break for 5-10 minutes before I leave. *** Pivoting to a drop in style visit is at my discretion. *** What if my dog can handle the inclement weather? Then we walk! - I do bring a water bottle (that I fill at your house) and bowl to stop for water breaks on hot days usually halfway through the walk. - Cold weather I’ll put a coat on your dog unless they don’t need it. If your dog begins to shiver, we will come home and pivot to a drop in style.

Availability

I am a mother, so my kids do come first with their school activities and appointments. Reoccurring schedule conflicts will be discussed ASAP. Walks and drop ins available during the school day. (9a-3p) Visits outside of school times are dependent on my availability. - I book on the hour, to accommodate for travel, my child and dogs. You know life doesn’t go as planned with kids and animals. - My goal is to arrive in the first 15 minutes of the hour. I will text if it will be past 30 minutes. This usually only happens if an emergency happens. - visit/walk times are booked based on your location to other clients.
