My husband and I are mostly retired. Our three young adult sons with disabilities live with us. We previously have owned Labs and others. Currently we have parakeets and a parrot (out of harm’s way), as well as a couple of outdoor cats, a horse and a pony.

We have personally included many individual dogs in our lives over the past 40 some years. We do not currently have our own dog, but we care for visiting dogs. They get a great deal of our attention during their time with us. The visitor explores the home. They seem to find their own different favorite spots. One dog may choose to spend quiet time in one of our sons' rooms. Another may prefer the corner of the dining room for relaxing in the sunshine. Still another chooses a dog bed by the front entry where he can keep an eye on the comings and goings of family members. The most frequented room is the centrally located TV room, where a family member sleeps to keep the visiting dog accompanied all night. Those dogs who are used to being on furniture often choose a recliner there for resting, though we have nice dog beds available too. Dogs seem to have found our home to be a fun and interesting place to roam.

Information Kay E. would like to know about your pet
We will need dogs that we take care of to be well mannered, not overly anxious and generally quiet. We ask that you be transparent about possible behaviors and any pertinent medical history. Our young adult sons who live at home with us are great guys who have various disabilities, intellectually and physically. They are accustomed to animals. We (Kay and Rick) take responsibility for taking your dog outdoors. Connecting with and caring for your dog will be a meaningful experience for our family. Rick and I share an enduring fondness for animals and cannot imagine a home without the friendship and personalities of past and present pets. That said, we need to feel assured that your pet feels the same way about us and can be trusted to sense and respect boundaries.
A typical day
We will exercise them outdoors as they desire and as they are able, weather permitting, At times we will just hang out indoors. We are happy to groom them, even bathe occasionally. More importantly, we will reassure them and by our actions aim to help them feel safe and learn what is expected so they can be content.

Special Care for Special Dogs
Pet care experience
We care for dogs with predictably good temperaments. Usually, but not always, they are older dogs. We have a generally relaxed environment on a hobby farm in Corcoran, just outside of Maple Grove. Your pet will have frequent outdoor walks (as able) on a long loose leash or walking with us off leash in an outdoor enclosure. Nothing fancy here, just fun to sniff and explore, if desired. They might even scare up a pheasant, rabbit or cat! Currently, we prefer to care for one visitor at a time, though occasionally we can arrange to have a second dog,
Reviews

Our dog Ellie had a great time staying with Kay. She kept us well informed of what Ellie was up to and gave her lots of attention and time outside. We got some nice pictures and videos during the stay. Thank you and we hope to have Ellie back in the future!

Archie loved staying with Kay and her family! The 3 boys/ young men were all positive and enthused about the visit. I can tell Archie had a good time, and I loved getting reports and videos from Kay!

We had the most positive and worry free pet care with Kay and her family. Kay was extra attentive to the needs of our dogs. Also the lovely property provided all the fresh air and security for pets. She sent pictures and videos so we knew they were settled in and enjoying their time. It felt like my dogs were on vacation. Highly recommend Kay and family. We hope to book again.

My dog had a wonderful vacation while staying with his family. I think she enjoyed time with everyone, in the family, Kay, Rick, Omar Justas and Vanya. Kay sent me many pictures of her with each, and every one with Willow. I will definitely book with them again. In fact, I have already tried, but they’re busy when I need them. We’ll see you again next time
