Veterinary Technician + Sitter!

Pet care experience

I've worked in veterinary medicine for years and am currently pursuing my dream of becoming a veterinarian! Alongside my professional experience, I’ve pet sat for over a decade, caring for dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments. I am new to Rover, but not to pet sitting and animal care! I’ve also worked at animal shelters, dog daycares, and on farms! Friends, family, and neighbors trust me to walk, feed, administer medications, bathe, and comfort their pets. I’m confident with senior care, behavioral needs, and even exotic pets thanks to my clinical background. Your pet's well-being is always my top priority! I am RECOVER BLS certified (CPR for cats and dogs), and graduated with a bachelors degree in veterinary technology.

Katelyn did a great job taking care of my cat Mac. I got daily updates with photos and she kept me informed on how Mac was feeling throughout the day. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone needing a temporary spot for their pet!

Katelyn is amazing with animals and incredibly dependable. Not only is she a true dog and cat lover, but she’s also very communicative. She always responds within minutes and will even let you know ahead of time if she won’t have her phone on her. You can tell she genuinely cares about both the pets and the owners. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again!

Kate is truly one of a kind. We’ve been bringing our two dogs, Roxy and Chloe, to her for care, and I can honestly say we’ve never felt more at ease leaving them with someone. Roxy was elderly and needed extra attention, and Chloe has epilepsy and takes daily medication—Kate has managed both with skill, patience, and genuine love. Her degree in veterinary technology and her current pursuit of vet school gave us immediate confidence, but what really sets Kate apart is her heart. She’s a true animal lover, and it shows in every interaction. Our dogs run to her door when we drop them off—something we’ve never seen with any other sitter. Kate has become such an important part of our dogs’ lives. We trust her completely and feel incredibly lucky to have found her.

Safety, trust & environment

I provide pet care in my own home, which has three bedrooms, a yard (currently putting a fence in), and plenty of space for your pet to feel safe and relaxed. My fence will be completed at the end of August! I live by myself with a friendly dog and a cat, both well-socialized and used to guests. I can crate or separate pets as needed to ensure everyone’s comfort. If you would like your pet to be crated, please bring one! With my veterinary background, I’m trained to monitor health, administer medications, and create a low-stress, loving environment tailored to each pet’s needs. I currently pet sit for multiple veterinarians who trust me to keep their pets safe. If you would like me to stop by your home for a check-in or pick your pup up for a walk, know that I am trustworthy and will treat your home and pet with the utmost care!

Information Katelyn H. would like to know about your pet

Please tell me about your pet’s special needs, medical history, favorite toys, food preferences, and personality quirks. This helps me tailor care just for them. If your pet has any aggression issues, please let me know. I do have a dog and cat, and want everyone to be safe. I do ask that all pets have up-to-date vaccinations. For dogs, this includes DAP-L (Distemper, Parvo, Lepto) and Rabies. For cats, FVRCP and Rabies are required. Since I have a cat of my own, please let me know if your cat has tested positive for FIV or FeLV. I’m unable to board cats with these conditions to keep my kitty safe. Lastly, for everyone’s comfort, I can’t board pets with fleas, so please make sure your pet is flea-free before their stay.

A typical day

I’m very relaxed and like to spend most of my time (about 90%) just being with your pet to help them feel calm and secure. I follow their usual routine: feeding, medications, bathroom breaks, and provide plenty of gentle attention and affection. Depending on their mood, we might enjoy a walk, some playtime, or quiet cuddle sessions. I keep a close eye on their behavior and health throughout the day to ensure they’re comfortable and happy.

Availability

I work full-time as a Registered Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital, but only four days a week, giving me flexibility for pet care. On workdays, I can either bring your pet with me (if appropriate and approved) or stop by during my lunch break for a walk, potty break, or check-in. I'm reliable, communicative, and happy to accommodate your pet’s needs around my schedule. When I’m not working, I am always home. When pet sitting, your pet is my top priority. My own dog is quite lazy, so I’m always excited to walk dogs who enjoy walks!!
