Home Full Time on a Mini Horse Farm
Pet care experience
I'm an animal-obsessed horse-girl who works from home and loves being surrounded by animals! We have a small (no pun in tended!) Miniature Horse Farm with 5 Miniature Horses currently and one super awesome Quarter Horse Gelding. We have five spoiled Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (Weenie, Fezzik, Blaize, WT & Finley) and one VERY large Guardian Dog (Zuko) that lives with our little horses (and will be separate from any of our "guest" dogs!) We have two “working" cats that are very dog savvy. Our entire backyard is fenced with access to our back deck. Our home is very pet friendly where dogs are spoiled silly! You are always welcome to visit our farm & meet our little Horses! We'd LOVE to meet you and your canine kids! xo Karen
Reviews

We felt so lucky to be able to book with Karen over this past Christmas holiday - you really have to plan ahead as she’s always fully booked! - after having such a great experience with her the first time, a few years ago. She is a warm and welcoming person with a clear love of animals, with lovely grounds where dogs can safely run off leash. Karen will provide as many updates/photos as you think you might need, and is prepared with extra dog gear so you don’t have to bring beds, coats and the like with you for the dog’s stay. Would/will book again without hesitation, 5+ stars!

Karen always gives Harry plenty of care, love, and attention.

I adore Karen. I am so relaxed when I have to travel knowing my dogs are in the hands of such a loving person. I get pictures multiple times a day to make me smile.

Karen is amazing. We feel completely comfortable with her having our little guy over when we’re away. She sends plenty of photos so we know he’s having a great time.

Visiting pets get to enjoy our huge outside fenced play area. While inside they are treated to Netflix and plenty of play time, and of course lullabies to sooth them to sleep at night (c/o Alexa!)

Of course Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are my first love but over the years we’ve had many different breeds of dogs that became family to us (a Black Lab, Jack Russell Terrier and an amazing Greyhound!) I LOVE Labradors! Our visiting Rover dogs get lots of interaction. Dogs that are very well house broken get the run of the house and pups that need a little more training can be penned in our kitchen and taken out every hour. We have a huge puppy play room in our lower level. Great for rainy or hot days. Some dogs prefer to nap down there as it's cool and quiet (and set up with streaming music and Dog TV!) Camp Cupcake has two outside pens besides are fenced in back yard. Our smaller pen (we dubbed it the "potty pen") has lots of shade and a kiddie pool and 3 separate areas so dogs that like other dogs nearby but prefer not to socialize can have a smaller area to themselves. Our newest addition is a huge puppy play yard! It's big enough for dogs to run and play without a leash, while still being supervised. Dogs are never fed together & only dogs that get along extremely well are allowed to free play together. We have a zillion (or says my husband!) dog toys, balls and dog beds. And plenty of dog treats so let me know if your pup is on a restricted diet please! Currently we do not take dogs with strong behavioral issues or extreme separation anxiety.
A typical day
We have acres of fields surrounding our farm and love to go for walks! Normally our visiting dogs get lots of indoor and outdoor playtime. We take 2 walks a day -averaging 1-2 miles each (if pup is able & willing!) Dogs are always kept on leash when out of our fenced area or one of our dog pens. PLEASE NOTE! For boarded dogs, boarding rate is for a 24 hour period so if booking is a morning drop off and evening pick up, I'll need to adjust your total rate! Please note - I DO have cats that live on the property - four wonderful barn cats make up our rodent patrol here at our farm so I am not able to take dogs that are cat aggressive! The cats do not live on our home but occasionally they visit near the house to "meet" some of our visiting pups! I also have grandkids, age 6 and under that visit frequently. They are absolutely sweet and kind to all animals and always supervised when interacting with Rover dogs.
