💯Reliable❤️Love🐾R+ Board&Train
Pet care experience
Your pup is family. I pride myself on providing love, knowledge, care, and training that exceeds your expectations. I'm thrilled to serve you and your fur babies. I love your kids as much as I have loved my own!! I am a positive reinforcement in-home board and train, CPDT-KA certified, and Force Free certified dog trainer. That means I build trusting, cooperative relationships with every pup that strolls through the door and do not use (or permit) aversive tools, physical punishment, intimidation, or coercion when furkids are in my care. There are only a few force-free board and trains in San Diego, and it's a privilege to be recognized as a leading provider. l have a perfect reliability rating and a long list of happy, grateful pawrents. Please reach out for a complimentary meet and greet, with no obligation, to assess if I’m the right trainer for you. If your pup is trained with aversive tools, don't hesitate to call with questions or to provide more information. I request that aversive tools such as prong or ecollars be removed when dogs are in my care. It was my privilege to have fostered and adopt an extremely abused and reactive dog with layered behavioral issues that most said would not be rehabilitatable using positive reinforcement methods. I spent two years 24/7 rescuing, rehabilitating, and training him using force-free techniques. The love and trust we shared by giving him structure, skills, lots of enrichment, and choice (within safe boundaries) have forever changed my life. With all of my heart and experience learning, loving, and training him, I have the ability to bond deeply with your babies. I understand how difficult it is to leave them with someone you don’t know. My heart is committed to helping you be able to work, vacation, or step away with complete peace of mind that your kid(s) receives the best possible care, love, and attention they deserve while you're away. I tell all the pawrents, "You can miss them, but you cannot worry about them." I know you need to have rich life experiences and while you're away know that we can work on training skills to come home to the positive behaviors you've been wanting to train. I studied with a top positive reinforcement trainer skilled in shaping challenging behaviors. Under her expertise, I learned to speak fluent "doggie language". This essential communication skill allows me to offer new, enriching and custom care unique to their personality. Sometimes that's lots of snuggles and the belly rubs they crave. It might be important to sit in a more calm, restful space without external noises that can create anxiety. Or giving your pup space to sniff and get to know their surroundings and a new sitter. Play, exercise, mental and physical enrichment are always important, plus I can support what you've trained and also teach or strengthen desirable behaviors that you've been working on. Every kid is special and unique. I love learning their language to deepen trust and build a special bond. They always tell me what they need. I'm honored and excited to meet your sweet fur babies so you can enjoy time away with total peace of mind knowing someone cares as much as you do. And will ask all the right questions to fill in the blanks of what I don’t know about them so you can come home to happy, enriched, trained pups who enjoyed training vacay camp while you were away. 🐾🥰
Reviews

Julie was amazing!! I have a Belgian malinois mix that can be a little too energetic when you first meet him and she was so patient and calm with Woody! I was out of town for a week and Julie would consistently update me with how to dogs were doing and it made it so much easier to relax on my trip knowing my dogs were in good hands!

Great, as always! Thanks, Julie

Best ever. Her instagram and youtube are worth following as well. Got to see my Shorty living her best life on Julie's instagram.

Julie always keeps me updated with texts and videos and makes sure Tony is safe and happy!

Information Julie H. would like to know about your pet
I love to know as much care information as possible, including allergies, special needs, triggers, or reactivity issues. I am very aware and attentive to reducing stressful exposures that may cause anxiety or fear, and have lots of different ways to help accommodate a variety of issues. There are lots of treats and toys available, but if you prefer that I use your pup's treats exclusively, please let me know. I encourage you to bring at least one of your dog's favorite things to have your scent nearby.
A typical day
We play a LOT! I upload photos throughout the day for you to follow their adventure and see them at play and ease. I use interactive and training games, with a variety of toys and reinforcement to find exactly what they love. I encourage you to bring their favorites, too. We might experiment with feeding puzzles at mealtime. All of these things increase joy and confidence and alleviate separation stress for those that struggle to be away from you. There's a nice neighborhood park less than five minutes away by car. For dogs who need or want more enrichment, I provide outing options—places we can visit between 10-20 minutes to take hikes, maybe a swim in the lake, a dip in the ocean bay, or sniffs and rolls on grassy hills. Outings are included in pricing. I've done hundreds of trips all around San Diego county, and can suggest the right places for your pup’s needs and enjoyment.

I work from home with a flexible schedule, and take lots of breaks in the day. My home is very quiet. There are very few visitors. There is ABSOLUTELY NO exposure to children, cats, or other animals inside my home. I only accept one pet family. There are no new pet introductions or risk of dog-to-dog reactivity at home. During neighborhood and park walks, I avoid contact with other dogs—simply because I don’t know the behaviors or training of someone else’s pup. I adjust my schedule to mirror what you do at home to help your fur babies have consistency. I love taking pups out to park walks for fun or skill building, training sessions, or long line decompression outings, when requested.
