Hi! I'm Joy. In addition to caring for dogs, cats, birds, gerbils, guinea pigs, rats, rabbits, horses, and fish as my personal companions throughout the years, I have also shown love and attention in meeting the needs of the pets of neighbors and friends. Most of my pets have been adopted/rescued and I am familiar with strategies to apply with dogs that may not initially warm up to people. My experience of having a dog with epilepsy allows me to relate to the responsibilities associated with pets that have special needs. I love taking walks and understand how critical exercise is for a dog's mental and physical health, and how effective it is in reducing problem behaviors. I also know how important it is to keep the plants in the house alive and I am happy to give them a drink during your absence. Entrusting your pet's care to someone else can be a nerve-wracking endeavor-I know this from experience! Allow me to lower your anxiety as I provide services for your pet(s) that involve the same level of professionalism that I have applied throughout my career in higher education. I work from home as a part-time online instructor. My schedule provides flexibility to pop on over and give your pet(s) the attention they need. Safety and individualized care are priorities for me and I wish to maintain consistency for both you and your pet. Let me know your pet's routine and any special considerations for your home and I will work to ensure they are met. These include, but are not limited to crating, house rules for people and pets (shoes in house, where items are kept, pets on the furniture, lights that should be on/off, etc.), allowable treats for your pet(s), cues/words your pet responds to etc.
