As a pet sitter my schedule is fairly flexible. I generally have availability from 8 AM-9 PM to walk, care for, and snuggle pets at your convenience.

I am adaptable to the unique needs of individual animals and owners, and am committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all through mutual respect and clear communication. In my household, my pets are members of my family, and they receive a lot of love and affection and access to our human spaces. I understand that many pet households differ, and am happy to be consistent with your personal boundaries that you have created with your pets and space. For dog walking, the safety and the comfort of the animal is my top priority, and having a fun, active adventure is my second. I use a mixture of positive reinforcement and mirror training with my dogs. My personal boundaries are that I do not and will not enforce discipline through any form of physical or verbal harm, electronic training (shock collars), or dominance training.

I always strive to provide the best care possible, so please let me know if your pet has any special needs or behaviors that I can attend to. If there are any behavior or training goals you are hoping to make progress with I am happy to help. I have experience working with a variety of dogs and have successfully helped clients with leash training, reducing pulling, improving listening skills, socialization, and discouraging jumping. Whether your pet needs a little extra patience or you're working toward specific milestones, I'm happy to support you and your pet along the way!
A typical day
I like to do a variety of activities with the clients I care for, depending on the personality and needs of the animals. In my experience a combination of physical and mental stimulation tends to leave my dog clients the happiest, like a walk with lots of spots to stop and sniff around, a game of fetch, or treat “foraging” exercises. For my friendly kitty clients, I find that spending quality time with them and giving lots of attention is key, especially during drop-in visits when they’re spending the majority of time at home alone.

Pet care experience
I have been taking care of dogs, cats, and other animals for over 15 years (I spent the majority of my life living within 15 minutes of a family member’s farm!). Pet sitting for family, friends, and acquaintances was my first official “job” at age 10, and over the years I have had the opportunity to meet and bond with many special and sweet creatures! While my experience with different species has been broad, I have worked primarily with larger breeds dogs and am most accustomed to the physical and mental demands of working and herding breed dogs. I have two dogs of my own, and have been the primary caregiver in raising and training them both since they were rescued at 10 and 11 weeks. Throughout my life, dogs have been a constant companion, which means that I have cared for them in all stages of life, puppy to senior. I also have experience with caring for disabled dogs with hip dysplasia and joint/tendon injuries.

Joanna is a wonderfully caring and helpful individual who helped care for Wally while my partner and I were away for 2 weeks. Johanna was extremely helpful, communicative, and went above and beyond what we asked of her. She took great care of Wally, attended to his needs, and made sure Wally was safe and comfortable while we were away. We worried that Wally would be a handful but Joanna helped to ease our anxiety with her detailed check ins and was able to work with Wally, even though he can be a challenge to work with. Joanna provided expert care for our little guy and we will definitely book with Joanna going forward!
Johanna has been great! Our shy girl warmed right up to her. She is consistent, on time, and a great communicator.
Joanna did a wonderful job caring for Wally. She was very communicative with her drop in visits and took lots of great photos and sent helpful updates! Most importantly, we always came home to a happy dog! Would definitely work with Joanna again and I highly recommend her if you want to come back home to a happy dog! ?
