Availability

I am open to care for pets seven days a week. The earliest I will start pet visits is 7AM, and the latest I will conduct evening visits is 8PM. Cat visits are typically done mid-morning to early afternoon unless they're on a medication schedule or specific feeding schedule. I try to come as close as possible to keeping a pet's care schedule what it is while their owners are home, but the actual time I'm able to show up to a visit will depend on other visits I have scheduled for that day.

Safety, trust & environment

Whether I'm having a dog over at my house as a sleepover guest, or whether I'm caring for fur-kids in their own homes, I always treat them as if they were my own. And, my own fur-kids are just exactly that: fur-kids! I do not consider them just "pets" or "property".

Information Jessica R. would like to know about your pet

Important information I need to know about a dog is: Does your dog have any medical conditions? Does your dog any food or environmental allergies? Does your dog have any aggressive tendencies? Does your dog have a prior bite history? Is your dog an escape artist? What is his/her feeding schedule? Is your dog on any medications? If so, what is the medication schedule? Does your dog have any sensitive areas on his/her body, i.e., arthritis in the neck, sore hips, injuries? Does your dog have any exercise limitations? Are there any dogs in the neighborhood to steer clear from while out on walks? Maybe other dogs that don't get along so well with your dog? Does your dog have a high prey drive?

A typical day

When dogs have stayed with me at my home in California, there was always pack-play, engaging activities, social training, and basic commands always in force. So, they were always learning even when they were playing. For intense exercise, for those dogs that had great voice recall, I would take them to the mountains, and we would hike together (off-leash hikes). A typical day here in Michigan performing the service Pet Visits (not Boarding), I spend the entire visit engaged with the animals. There is play, working with dogs on their basic commands, and giving them a lot of love. Leashed walks around the property, or even down the road depending on the needs of the dog and wants of the owner, are also done.

Pet care experience

I am Jessie Riggs, and my family and I have owned and operated a pet sitting company since February 2004 (KYPSAH Pet Services). So, I have nearly twenty years of professional pet experience. I have also been involved with animal rescue since about 2009, so am very experienced with rehabbing dogs with anxiety issues. I have been offering home, dog boarding for many years, and am currently in the process of setting up our newly-acquired property to once again offer this service. However, there is no start date available yet. Until then, I am offering pet visits where I take care of fur-kids in their own homes. Pet visits is a great service for people that have multiple pets, want to keep their pets at home, and wish to keep their pets' routine in play as much as possible. For new clients, please give me a week's notice so that a Meet and Greet interview can be scheduled (a great time to put a face with the name and for fur-kids to get the chance to meet me before the start of service). For current clients/friends, please give me a 48-hour notice if possible. Taking care of fur-kids is an honor, so I appreciate the opportunity to meet you and your fur-kids.

Jessie is absolutely amazing. I couldn't have asked for someone better to take care of my animals while I was away. She gave me very detailed updates and sent adorable photos. She made my vacation so much more relaxing knowing I had nothing to worry about when it came to my pets. She truly goes above and beyond. I highly recommend her. She really loves animals and it shows in the way she treated my pets. I can't thank her enough! I would definitely recommend her to any family or friend. She's the best!

Jessica always has the best communication and sends multiple videos and photos while we are away of our two big dogs! Our animals love her and she puts us at ease when we have to travel and leave our dogs behind. Couldn’t recommend Jessica enough to anyone in the area! She also waits until we are home safe and sound until she officially signs off, which melts my heart that she cares so much about our whole households safety. Jessica is our number one go to for all our dog sitter requests!
