Disponibilidad

I'm currently working part time in Portland as a physical therapist and have control over my schedule. This means I can be flexible, available first thing in the mornings or early afternoons Monday-Thursdays with notice. My weekends are updated regularly and are typically Friday-Sunday. I live with my fiancé, who’s a doctor on alternating/rotating schedules and is an amazing dog dad! That said, he would be caring for our dog when I’m with your pets, and will only join/visit in care with your consent if it's in the home or a doggy day care day.

Seguridad, confianza y entorno

My home has a fenced backyard on a sloped decline. It's great for short runs and fetch. I also have a backyard balcony with a turf mat for those that like to sunbathe. Inside, dogs would be on the first floor and is best suited for small to medium sized dogs. Our home has hardwood floors and does not have a dedicated open area, but our suburban neighborhood is walkable, with community park and two large open fields. In your home, I'm experienced in crate training, using/setting up play pens, helping/cleaning with potty training, dog proofing, and supervising play time closely. I wouldn't leave anything harmful out that I wouldn't want my own pet near. When I'm caring for your pet, I give the same amount of love I would to my own. I understand that most behaviors from pets are always well intended and a sign of needs, so I make time and effort to understand their needs and yours as well!

Información que a Jen D. le gustaría saber sobre tu mascota

- Their favorite activities, toys, treats, social cues/concerns around specific population or objects (my dog is scared of metal surfaces!) - Allergies, meds, triggers to avoid, fears, anxiety, pertinent medical history - If they are social and/or if you are comfortable with my dog tagging along for walks!

Un día normal

I enjoy dedicating and fulfilling their time with my full attention whether its playing, cuddling, training tricks/obedience behaviors, checking their pee-mails outside, or finding a shady spot to enjoy the outdoors. I love helping with enrichment, mental stimulation, attention training, and getting your pets energy and needs met. WALKS: I'll usually arrive, greet, and meet your pet at the door, and bring their leash and bags on our walk. I bring a portable water bowl and some wipes if needed. We'll walk around your neighborhood or a route/trail nearby that you prefer. For higher energy pets, if there is a nearby dog park you know they go to, we can always go for a ride (with notice ahead of time) to the park. DROP INS: Includes refilling water/food, pets and cuddles, brief potty time outside. Longer dog walks require additional add-on. I love going through any enrichment or mental stimulating activities they enjoy if you supply the equipment or adaptive objects. (modified sniff mat/rolls with treats, hide in seek inside, setting up lick mats or toys) HOUSE SITTING: (Includes walk/outdoor time 1-2x/day, feeding, medications, and indoor playtime) I'm flexible to hearing what you and your pet needs first and foremost, then I adjust to maintain my own obligations. I'll always leave the home as I found it or better and I can break down bedding or wash it. Other things included: - Bring in mail/packages, take out full trash, water plants - Weekdays: I'm not typically there 24hrs due to work and my own maintenance. If I have shorter workdays or work from home, I'll typically spend more time with your pet. On weekends, you can expect more time outdoors (for dogs or outdoor cats) as well. - Only with your permission and if you'd like to meet my dog Benji: Joint walks or trips to play at parks/trails. Usually if I can bring both pets, they can get longer outdoor and social time. :)

Experiencia en el cuidado de mascotas

Hello! I was previously a regular house sitter, walker, day carer, and day time visitor in Seattle prior to relocating to Oregon. I'm a physical therapist with expertise in humans and was raised around caretaking for family, friends, dogs, and cats. I have my own dog named Benji who is a testament to my love and nurturing skills. I'm working part-time in the Portland area and live close to the Tualatin community park. I've cared for dogs from ranges of large and small, puppies to seniors, as well as cats. In Seattle, I spent did some puppy and behavioral training specific to potty, leash, feeding, and tricks/obedience training. I have supplies to keep your pets smelling clean and fresh for returning from adventures. My car is dog friendly with a cover if your pet likes a nearby park/trail. I'm adaptable and teachable to understand your pet's personality as I am for humans in my career. When it comes to my cats, I respect their rules and needs. I’ve done drop ins for litter boxes, cuddles, refills for food/water, and occasionally medication. For more independent cats, I try to ensure they know a human is there to care and available for affection, but will not intrude on their space. I've had my own range of cats and kittens growing up. I'm primarily available for dog/cat sitting, drop ins, and walks. Since I have my own dog, I will always ask what's comfortable to you and your pets when it comes to group walks, car rides, and introducing my dog (or not). I've previously cared for pets that benefit from social time and my dog is a great neutral friend. My daytime drop ins can be flexible as needed based on whether they just need company or more enrichment related activities to be done together. I have taught and implemented enrichment and training during my drop ins, helped resupply or clean equipment (kong's, enrichment sniffer trays, lick trays, feed machines, etc).

Jen did a fantastic job sitting our mini-poodle mix, Arlo. He's a rescue with pretty serious separation anxiety, and it often takes him a while to warm up to strangers. Jen immediately made a concerted effort to make Arlo comfortable and was incredibly respectful of his boundaries. It was obvious from the first second that she had experience with anxious dogs, and she did a great job of keeping him calm and making sure he felt safe. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Jen was wonderful! Our dog can be very shy with new people, but Jen was super patient and by the end of the weekend our pup was cuddling with her in bed. She is super communicative and I loved the photos and pics while we were away. We will definitely hire Jen to watch out puppy and house again.

Jen was an amazing sitter for my cat Frankie! She kept me updated with lots of pictures and videos while I was away and was so friendly with Frankie. She left my apartment very clean and was super responsible! and I would 100% recommend Jen, I already have her re-booked!!
