Pet care experience

Safety first, love above all

Although new on Rover, I've had 17 years of experience training, caretaking, and loving my soul dog from the puppy stage and lucky enough to see her into her super senior years. My style of training is firm, but gentle and patient. I have experience in senior care as my own dog had complex epilepsy, benign skin conditions, and other chronic issues — so I know all the tricks to administer oral medications in addition to subcutaneous injections. Lastly, this isn't my primary source of income, I just love having dogs around!

If you're able to get Jamie to care for your dog, congratulations! Jamie is one of the most loving dog caregiver I've ever met. I never have to worry when I drop off my Aussie with her. I know my dog will not only be spoiled and loved by her, but also in safe hands. I say this because Jamie has a lot of experience taking care of dogs, given that she cared for her dog through epilepsy and cancer. She was incredibly diligent and attentive about the care, including administrating medications and making sure her baby was comfortable and safe. Watching her care for her dog demonstrated how seriously she takes the responsibility of caring for an animal.

Jamie is one of the most attentive and experienced dog owners I know. I watched her care for both of her own dogs, Lily and Boomer throughout their lives, including during their later years when they faced health challenges. Since Lily suffered from seizures towards her later years, Jamie always made sure she understood exactly what Lily needed. She stays prepared, responds calmly, and does everything she can to keep Lily safe and comfortable. Jamie has the empathy to recognize what a dog is feeling, the knowledge and experience to respond appropriately, and has good judgment to know when something needs extra attention. She treats dogs like family and is someone I would trust completely with my own pet. Any dog in Jamie’s care will be safe and very loved!

Jamie is an incredibly caring and trustworthy person who genuinely loves dogs. I know she nurtured her own two dogs with so much love, patience, and selflessness, always treating them as cherished members of her family. Channeling her love and keen ability to care for dogs into being a Rover is literally so special and we feel so lucky to have had her watch our dog, Alfred. She is dependable, responsible, and highly communicative, so you can feel completely at ease leaving your pets in her care. Jamie will treat your dogs with the same attention, affection, and dedication she would give her own. I’ll only trust Jamie moving forward and hope she’s always available when I need the help.

I’ve known Jamie all my life and for most of it, she had her dogs. From raising a puppy to the senior stage, Jamie has always taken such great care of her dogs. They were so happy and loved. As she is an experienced dog owner, I would trust her any day with my pets because I know they will be so well taken care of.

Schedule

My routine is extremely flexible. I work from home and currently on a sabbatical — so I can accommodate and prioritize your dog whether it is backyard potty breaks or long walks. I understand each dog has different needs, and I am more than happy to adjust my routine as needed. I'm usually home during the week, and go out for dinner on the weekends. Happy to work together to make sure your pup feels safe at home — or I am more than happy to take him/her with us :)

Safety, trust & environment

I require all new clients to complete a Meet & Greet prior to booking, scheduled as a $35 drop-in visit. This ensures we are a great fit for each other before confirming a stay. Open communication and transparency are very important to me, and I expect the same from clients. I have a large backyard for easy potty breaks and prefer regular neighborhood runs or walks. I generally avoid dog parks to eliminate unnecessary safety risks. My partner works remotely from home, so there is always extra coverage and support for your pet. I am also experienced and comfortable administering medications.

A typical day

A typical day is tailored to your dog’s energy level, age, and health needs. For healthy, active dogs, you can expect at least two long neighborhood walks per day, including trips toward a large park a mile away, plus as many backyard potty breaks as needed throughout the day. To keep your pet safe and minimize risk, I avoid dog parks. For socialized pups, I love including them in outings like coffee runs or casual patio lunches, which we can decide on together based on your dog's temperament!

I value transparency and communication and I expect that to be reciprocated. It is extremely important that you share all nuances and quirks about your dog in order to keep your dog happy and safe. I will not be responsible for information that you do not disclose to me. Is your dog reactive? Aggressive? Will he/she try to escape the collar? What should I expect on our walks? Any injuries? What should I avoid and watch out for? Are there any expressions from your dog that I should know about, and if so, what are they? Any fears? Dislikes? The more information you can give me, the better I can be equipped!
