We’re your pets FIT & FAV HOOMANs!

**Updated About Us – 10 Months on Rover! 🐾** Hi, we're Jake & Ida! Also known as **Alaska Love & Leashes** 🐾 After 10 amazing months on Rover, we've had the privilege of caring for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, breeds, personalities, and energy levels. We've updated our profile to better reflect who we are and the experience we've gained serving pet families throughout Alaska. We're a fun, active couple who believe pets deserve more than just care—they deserve companionship, exercise, patience, consistency, and lots of love while their owners are away. As lifelong Alaskans, we're comfortable in all seasons and weather conditions. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, outdoor adventures, playing fetch, enrichment activities, or simply maintaining a familiar routine, we're committed to providing care that matches their individual needs and personality. A little about us: • **Ida** is a gym owner, fitness coach, and lifelong animal lover with a flexible schedule that allows for daytime care, walks, drop-ins, and house sitting. • **Jake** is a former 911 paramedic who maintains his professional licensure. His calm, patient demeanor makes him exceptional with animals of all breeds and temperaments. One of Jake's specialties is working with reactive, anxious, or shy dogs, helping them feel safe and comfortable at their own pace. His ability to read animal behavior and remain calm under pressure is something many pet owners appreciate. • We also affectionately call Jake **"The Cat Whisperer."** Cats seem to gravitate toward him, and he has a special gift for earning the trust of even the most independent feline personalities. At home, we're proud pet parents to our two rescue cats, **Sage and Finny**, who remind us every day that every animal deserves patience, compassion, and understanding. Over the past 10 months, we've built our Rover reputation on reliability, communication, and treating every pet as if they were our own. We know how important it is to stay connected while you're away, so we provide regular updates, photos, and videos to give you peace of mind. Our goal is simple: to make your absence as stress-free as possible for both you and your pets. **Items We Provide:** ✔ Reliable transportation (6-passenger van for pet adventures and transportation needs) ✔ Extra leashes ✔ Waste bags ✔ Fresh water and travel water bowls ✔ Treats (with owner approval) ✔ Pup Cups during coffee runs (with owner approval) ✔ Lots of exercise, enrichment, affection, and photo updates Thank you for trusting us with your furry family members. We look forward to meeting you and creating a safe, fun, and loving experience for your pets! **A Note About Our Family** As a blended family, we have three children between the ages of 10 and 13 who occasionally join us on approved pet adventures, walks, or drop-in visits when appropriate and with owner consent. We understand that caring for your pets is a responsibility and privilege. Our children have been raised around animals and understand the importance of respecting routines, boundaries, and the trust pet owners place in us. However, their participation is never assumed and is not part of every booking. We remain fully responsible for all aspects of your pet's care and will always prioritize your preferences and your pet's comfort level. If you prefer that visits and walks be conducted exclusively by Jake and Ida, we completely respect and accommodate that request. Ida and Jake

Safety, trust & environment

In my own home (which I share with my boyfriend Jake), I have a 8-month old rescue tabby cat (Sage) who is pretty self sufficient but I love keeping her active with cat tree and toys. I keep her litter box cleaned daily. This is my first cat since being allergic but I’m no longer and it’s been great to be around other cats. My boyfriend and I live active lives so we have chosen not to have a dog of our own at this time which makes our time for you just as nice. I am very familiar with the walking trails in the municipality and carry a bear spray so I am very bear and moose aware. Ensuring your pet(s) are leashed appropriately is also important. I walk my best friends two black labs, hike with another friend who has (3) labs, and I own a gym where dogs are invited. I love to stay healthy and active as I like to keep the dogs and pets im around. Routine is important to both Jake and I. We are both registered with Rover and while I am the main point of contact, rest assure that if I am unable to fulfill my responsibilities, I want to make sure that your pet(s) are not impacted.

Ida is AMAZING! She has a way with animals - our shy kitty immediately warmed right up to her, and Ida made us feel so good about our kitty's care while we were away :)

Ida and Jakob always do a great job with our dog. They have been watching her since she was a baby and they are definitely her second family! They love and care for her like she is their own. I’d recommend Ida and Jakob 10 out of 10 times!

Ida and Jake were great sitters for my 3 pets and house. They communicated and kept us informed. My needy puppy got a lot of walks and exercise and attention so she was happy. They took good care of my house too. I would use them again!

If they are socialized or working on socialization. I ask that the owner be as detailed as possible with certain cues the dog needs, responds to, gets stressed with, or how they are around other humans/animals. I have no problems meeting ahead of time to get to know your pet(s).
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
