Pet care experience
Hi! I recently moved to the North Kansas City area after over a decade living in NYC, where I was working as a beauty editor for women’s magazines and taking on Rover gigs in between. I was laid off from my media job, though, and have decided to move back home (KC) to work part-time as a flight attendant based at MCI. I’d still like to continue with Rover while I’m here; I absolutely LOVE it and hope to build up a nice network of regular clients here just as I did in NYC. I am relatively flexible, but my schedule is dependent on upcoming flights which I typically know about months in advance. (I pride myself on being super communicative, so we ideally won’t run into any issues!) I’m also sober and live a quiet, peaceful life. I enjoy meditating, reading, taking Pilates classes, and spending time with animals as I find them fascinating and also wonderful for my mental health. I have a deep love and respect for animals — I especially love simply observing cats (they are so odd, hilarious, and entertaining!), rubbing doggie bellies (especially if they twitch their leg!), and encouraging and participating in ZOOMIES! I've been pet-sitting for about 7 or 8 years now, often dogs and cats (and even rabbits!) belonging to my neighbors, friends, and coworkers. I don't have formal experience training pets or caring for very young or very senior pets, so please keep that in mind if your pet has behavioral issues or complex health concerns. I CAN, however, assure you I'll provide frequent walkies, snuggies, pets, attention, playtime, and treats to your cat or dog. :) I am a master at playtime and LOVE capturing funny content involving pets. I have no allergies and am comfortable with all kinds of breeds and coats. The size of your pet is of no concern — I adore Great Danes and Maine Coons just as much as I love chihuahuas and tinier kitties. :) Please let me know if you have any questions at all! I can't wait to meet your cutie!

Hilary is an amazing cat sitter! She was great at communicating with me everyday about the details of her drop-in visits and provided MANY photos. I felt reassured that my pet was in good hands with her.

Hilary was 10/10. She was so communicative, shared funny and cute updates throughout the weekend, and made sure our pups were so well taken care of. She left the house clean and tidy and the dogs happy and tired from all of their fun. We will definitely be using her again soon!

Hilary is a dream. She won over my scared, anxious pandemic puppy by being kind, gentle and attentive. I received lots of updates with photos & even music videos!

Hilary was such an incredible sitter for our cats! She was thoughtful, thorough, and so communicative, and made us feel confident that our kitties were in great hands. She’s everything we look for in a sitter and more: she treated both our pets and our home with respect, she went above and beyond in making sure our kitties had plenty of care and entertainment, and she checked in regularly with observations, updates, and photos! She even brought sweet homemade toys for them, which are now their new favorites. Would absolutely hire her again!

The way I'd care for your pet in your home is the same way I'd care for my cat, Batman, in my home. Here is what I do and what's important to me: -abide by feeding schedule -make sure litterbox is frequently scooped out and clean -give out treats throughout the day (especially when practicing tricks) to foster connection and prevent boredom -change water daily -keep water and food bowls clean -give frequent pets, kisses, and playtime breaks -talk and look at him often to remind him he's loved and seen and cared for -partake in zoomies, games, and walkies/exercise. (my cat Batman goes outside on a leash, but I'll only take your dog out, promise!) -brush and groom -respect space and boundaries by understanding non-verbal cues, body language, and expressions -try new methods of playing with toys (I'm a master at this, just trust me!) to prompt curiosity and playfulness -snuggle A LOT!!!
Information Hilary S. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if any medication or training is required as I don't have a ton experience there (which might rule out super young or senior pets, as well as any with behavioral issues)!
A typical day
-frequent walks and time outside to allow for sniffs, fun, curiosity, fresh air, relief, and exercise! -playtime (i love play-wrestling with dogs but i know that might not be possible with some pets, so let me know!) -affection in the form of kisses, head/ear/butt scratches, belly rubs, snuggling, singing -treats!! -love -safety

My schedule is somewhat lax, so it's easy for me to drop in for visits/walks or stay with them throughout the day and all night if needed. Weekly visits are difficult, though! I am working as a flight attendant part-time (as mentioned) so sporadic and one-off bookings are best.
