Pet care experience
I love animals and grew up with dogs, cats, horses and chickens. As a family weve had many pets and our beloved greyhound Marley. He sadly passed away in October 2023. We were heartbroken and miss him everyday. We now provide a safe, gentle caring home for our friends' and families dogs while they go on holiday. We love doing this and it brings us so much happiness. Our dog came from a racing life and was a sad boy when he arrived. He didn't like noises or shouting and couldn't play or express any emotions. Though patience and gentle handling we gained his confidence. What a different dog he became in a year - happy, funny, friendly and secure. He had his own mind and could be very determined at times. As anyone with greyhounds knows, if they don't want to go a walk they will not go a walk! He loved running off lead for fun. He disliked crowds so we avoided taking him anywhere busy. The whole family absolutely adored him! He was incredibly loving and followed us around the house like a shadow. He had many many beds but his favorite was ours! My husband, David, and I are also active on Trusted House Sitters and have looked after many different pets. Meet and greet sessions included.

Reviews

Hazel is fantastic with dogs, Our labrador Willow had a wonderful time staying with Hazel and her husband! We had regular updates and photos over the wkend which showed how much fun willow was having and also putting our minds at ease! Thank you so much for taking such great care of our girl😀

Hazel was a brilliant host for our dog Leo. It was his first time saying with someone on rover but we could tell he felt very comfortable in Hazel’s home. She made sure he had everything he needed and he clearly had a great time! Would absolutely recommend Hazel 🙂

Absolutely delighted with the excellent care Hazel provided to Callie, our Black Lab when we were on holiday recently. We met up a couple of times beforehand so Callie got to know Hazel and received regular photo updates while away. Callie was in top condition on our return and had obviously had a great time! Highly recommend.

Hazel is an excellent host. Mabel enjoyed her stay.. as shown by regular photos of her walking gardening and relaxing.

Information Hazel S. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs or arrangements. Before a booking/at meet and greet we will discuss toilet training, reactivity, sociability, routines, walking needs, health issues, food and diet, strategies and commands used and anything else that will make your pets stay easier for them. My favourite out of many many favourites are the Greyhounds! I just love their gentle ways.
A typical day
I will spend a lot of time getting to know your dog and helping them feel secure in their new temporary home. We're a very active family and often go to Mugdock Country Park or Pollok Park for the dogs to get a big run around. Sometimes we'll go further a field to Callander for a long walk in the woods and up the Crags (this will be previously agreed on). I use our local parks too for closer to home walks. If suitable we'll socialize and meet other dogs. I'm equally happy with solo walks. We will play games in the house and garden. I can provide endless love and cuddles. ♥️. I can reinforce the strategies/ commands your dog is using. Your dog will not be left for more than 1 hour unless you specify a duration they can cope with. Your dog can sleep upstairs with us or downstairs - where ever they'd be most happy!

I'm a primary teacher who is working part time on a supply basis. My days change all the time and I'm delighted to be able to work in this flexible way now. I have plenty of spare time to do what I really love now- spending time with animals! I share my house with my husband, David, who also loves animals. We have 3 grown up children who have left home or at University.
