reliably energetic pet lover/owner

Pet care experience

Throughout my life I have cared for two cats and a Bichon-Frise/Poodle Mix. I was involved in caring for my dog from the day he came to us: showing him how to use stairs within those first couple of days and teaching commands for the next couple of years. Inevitably he aged, and over time I developed a familiarity with handling the many facets of caring for an aging dog: arthritis, anxiety, mobility challenges, and mood shifts. I learned the tricks for keeping him calm in the car, and those for getting him to take his medications. In all those years I consistently played with him in our fields, took him for walks, and ignored his grouching when I bumped him in his sleep. I love all animals very much, but as an innately energetic person, and as someone who is convinced (like most) that I had the best dog in the world, I find I bond most quickly and most deeply with dogs. I would be thrilled to meet yours.

Grace is not just a responsible and compassionate adult. She is truly an animal lover. Grace is always my families first choice when choosing who to watch our big fury Newfoundland. She takes such great care of Domino and always shows him love and affection. We have never had any issues with her pet care performance and the house is always spick and span when we get home. I could not recommend Grace enough for any and all pet-care needs. You will not find another person more loving to your animal and home.

Safety, trust & environment

In general I do my best to follow the pet's pace/lead, prioritizing the animal's comfort whenever possible. I follow provided schedules in a regimented manner, and if a schedule is not provided, then I will develop one myself. I take things like medication management and potty breaks very seriously, aware that when an owner is gone, pets are often stressed, and this stress can exacerbate pain and/or behavioral struggles. Regardless of the weather I am always happy to move and be active, so regular walks/exercise with pets is no trouble. As a pet lover, quality time is never an inconvenience either. I am more than thrilled, if your pet is more of a lounger than a runner, to just sit with them and relax.

Information Grace N. would like to know about your pet

If your dog struggles with reactivity, territoriality, food aggression, hand shyness/touch sensitivity, or resource guarding behaviors, these are all things I need to know beforehand so I can ensure I am properly respecting your dog's boundaries and keeping us both safe. Additionally, in my profile it states I am unable to administer injected medication. In the case this is something you need for your pet, I am willing to try given there is a meeting time where we can walk through the process step-by-step together. It's always good to know the following as well: - is your dog an escape artist/flight risk? is running away a consistent concern? - does your dog have extreme separation anxiety? - are there places in your home that pets are strictly off limits? - any other quirks relevant to your specific animal/household.

A typical day

I am able to do (and have done) all of the following fun activities: walking, running, chasing, fetching, tug of war, mentally enriching activities (puzzle toys, scent games, basic training sessions), swimming, hiking, dancing, talking (I've yet to meet a pet that uses those talking buttons, but if yours does, I'm happy to chat with them), lounging, watching TV, and napping. It all depends on what your pet likes, and what area is available to us!
