Pet care experience
Most people who know me well would describe me as part-dog. I've been volunteering at Guide Dogs for the Blind for nearly 3 years walking broods and sires in the Canine Welfare Neonatal department. I volunteer at Marin Humane as a Dog Training Assistant. I was previously employed as a Veterinary Assistant/Pharmacy Tech at Madera Pet Hospital. Family & friends entrust their dogs to me when they vacation or have other situations requiring dog-sitting. I love visiting and caring for dogs with special needs (medical, behavioral, emotional). Mostly, dogs help me feel grateful, and to live more in the moment. I am a certified dog trainer and graduate of the highly respected Victoria Stilwell Academy. I also intend to offer compassionate services with my eventual therapy dog. My professional background is in education and counseling psychology; this helps build strong, supportive connections with dog parents as well!

Gavin took care of our 13-year-old chihuahua/terrier pup, Cindy, for six days while we were out of town, and we are convinced that he is a dog whisperer. Cindy is not an easy doggo - she's anxious, sensitive about being touched, and barks nonstop at strangers. We are always so scared to leave her with a sitter because we know how difficult she van be. Gavin visited twice before we left to make sure he understood all of Cindy's needs. Within two days of being with Gavin, Cindy was cuddling him on the couch and not even barking when he came into the door. Everyday, Gavin sent us so many photos and videos, and we could see how respectful he was of Cindy's body language that other sitters haven't been able to read. Cindy was clearly relaxed and happy, we were floored and amazed. His care of her put us at ease and we enjoyed our vacation in a way that we've never been able to before. We wish we had found him years ago! Gavin went above and beyond to stay late on the last day, and then left our home spotless. He has our highest recommendation!
Gavin walks our 6 year old golden doodle Sandy. He is a caring person and Sandy can tell. He likes to play with her And is cautious and makes sure she’s safe and loved. He always sends photos of their time together and Sandy is Always smiling. Gavin also pet sits for us and is A reliable and kind person who we feel safe leaving our baby With. Gavin has been a great influence for our dog! He walks and trains her, reinforcing cues and good manners. He’s punctual and very trustworthy. I would highly recommend Gavin!
Our dog is so excited for her walks with Gavin! He anticipates our dog's needs, and puts effort into thinking of strategies to build their relationship and make it all a fun and safe experience. He is loving with our pup and I feel that she's in good hands with Gavin.
