WFH snuggler and long walker
Pet care experience
I've been mom to cats and dogs all my life. When I moved to Seattle 12 years ago, it only took a few weeks to get a puppy of my own. My Springer Spaniel Bentley was my best friend until recently when he passed from an autoimmune disease. I'm grateful to have worked from home with him by my side: snuggling on the couch with my laptop, taking long walks to break up the day, swims in lake union when it got hot outside, and all my love. Without my good boy at my side, I'm looking to give my attention and care to your dog or cat. Are they a couch potato? Great, I have a dog bed next to my desk. Are they high energy? No problem, I prioritize 15-30min walks several times throughout the day. Do they get hot in the summer heat? I have an a/c to keep us cool. As a (former) pet parent, I'm looking to keep up my routines and have the knowledge to address your dogs/cats needs at any age. I will treat them like my own. <3

Emily was amazing!! Strong and clear communication from the beginning, frequent updates and pictures. Our baby girl had an amazing time with this sitter, she was happy and well cared for!

Harley stayed with Emily while we were celebrating our honeymoon in Japan. Before we left, we talked with Emily via message and during our meet and greet about how we wanted to minimize risk while we were out of the country and asked that she not host any other dogs or have Harley socializing with dogs while we were away. It’s also clearly stated on my dog’s profile not to introduce her to dogs while in a sitter’s care. Harley is dog selective (mainly tolerating other dogs rather than instigating play) and I don’t know or trust a sitter’s ability to read dog body language or manage a dog/dog interaction since we’re strangers. We specifically booked Emily because her profile said she only hosts one animal at a time and has no pets. Unfortunately, about halfway through our trip, Emily sent us photos of Harley with another dog in the house, completely ignoring the one “rule” we had set. When we asked if Harley was the only dog in her care, the question wasn’t answered directly — we were just told Harley was her top priority. At that point, we were an ocean away and nervous and unsure about what was going on. I’m glad nothing bad happened, but ignoring this specific request could have been dangerous at worst and is irresponsible at best. When we came to pick Harley up, I asked Emily what was up with introducing her to other dogs when we had asked her not to. Her response was that her friend and her dog came over for a walk and the dogs got along outside, and they ended up coming inside because it was raining. She said if the interaction had gone negatively, she would have ended it, which is good….but that was not her decision to make and was still disregarding that we had asked for no dog/dog interactions. Had I known other dogs would have been around ahead of time I would have equipped her with more information, but in reality we would have just booked another sitter. I appreciate that Emily took a longer booking on pretty short notice and that my dog seemed to be well taken care of, but the only rule we had set wasn’t followed.

My cat Clove had a great time! She was really happy to get so much play and attention while she had to be out of my apartment for repairs. Emily really went above and beyond in caring for Clove, was very flexible with last-minute scheduling, and sent lots of updates I’d highly recommend Emily to anybody looking for somebody to take great care of their pet!

I can’t say enough positive things about Emily! Our dog, Ayda, loved her time with Emily and I could tell she was happy and well taken care of. Emily was very responsive and sent us lots of updates. It made us feel so much better knowing our girl was so well loved and cared for while we were traveling. We will absolutely book again!

I will treat your pet like my own. I want them to feel safe and loved. They will sleep in my room at night unless they feel more comfortable in a crate. I will do my best to accommodate what special needs your pet has to feel at home. I generally only accept one pet at a time unless they come from the same home.

Information Emily Y. would like to know about your pet
Let me know what makes your fur baby special. Do they want space? Are they picky eaters? Do they have a special diet? Are long walks too stimulating or tiring? Do they get along with other dogs on walks? Do they get defensive around new people or dogs? I want to be prepared to take care of your pet like you would.
A typical day
My top priority is balance. I love a dog who wants to snuggle and get attention. I have plenty to give. I have parks, quiet neighborhoods, and lake union nearby for fun activity time and walks. I have an old beat up 4Runner that is great for hauling messy dogs around town, to the mountains on weekends, or one of the many dog parks around. Please let me know what your dog is comfortable with or what you prefer to avoid.

Availability
While my schedule is flexible, it is not consistent day to day with meetings. I generally work my full-time job from 8am-5pm so daycare within those hours is best (with pickup/drop off shortly before/after okay!) Dog walks are most convenient if you live in Eastlake, like I do. I only board one dog at a time (unless they're from the same household) as I want to give each one the personalized attention they deserve. I have flexibility throughout my day to take walks and spend time with your cat/dog. I have strong routines already built after 12 years with my own dog that I am eager to keep up. I love to spend time outdoors and swims/dog parks/hikes are all possible if your pet is comfortable so please let me know!
