Availability
As a teacher, I have a very flexible schedule during the summer and the ability to adapt to your (pet’s) schedule. During the school year I will have a bit less flexibility, so I take fewer bookings on weekdays.

I appreciate a detailed description of your pet’s daily routine so I can adhere to it as closely as possible and make your pet feel at ease while under my care.
Information Emily R. would like to know about your pet
It is extremely helpful to know as much about your pet’s quirks and preferences as possible. Do they have separation anxiety? What is their favorite toy? Do they eat shoes? Are they reactive or do they walk well on a leash (I can take care of both!)? While I love cats and dogs and other mammals and birds, I am capable of taking care of reptiles and amphibians. However, I prefer not to take care of large snakes due to the feeding process.
A typical day
This depends on your pet’s routine, but a typical day would start with your pet’s breakfast and a walk, and I typically eat when we get back to the house. I’m an academic, so I do a lot of reading and listening to podcasts in addition to relaxing with shows (this is fun when your pets and I can watch nature documentaries together!).

Pet care experience
I love animals, and every pet I take care of (dog, cat, llama, chicken, gecko...) I treat like I would my own. I have taken care of a variety of dogs, including puppies, elderly dogs, rescued racing greyhounds, shepherds, and a Great Dane. I have cared for chickens, llamas, and turkeys on a small farm while also tending their large garden. In addition to the basics (walking, feeding, playing, etc.), I have experience with anxious and shy animals, as well as pets that need oral or subdermal medication or have specific grooming needs—I have brushed teeth for both dogs and cats! As I cannot bring animals into my own home, I find it is most advantageous to stay in your home so your pets can remain in a familiar environment while getting all of my attention. I have excellent references and can't wait to spend time with your pets!
Reviews

Emily takes such great care of both our dog and our home. She keeps our dog calm and comfortable while we’re out of town, and always leaves our home clean and neat. I highly recommend Emily!

We’ve had Emily stay with our dog, Stout, twice now, and it’s clear how comfortable and happy Stout is with Emily! She goes above and beyond - walking our dog in her favorite spot, keeping the house clean, and even staying later when our travel plans got pushed back. It gives us such peace of mind knowing our pup and home are in such great hands. We highly recommend Emily!

Emily was great! She made our dog comfortable, sent us photos, and left our house clean! She went the extra mile to walk our dog in her preferred areas as well, which makes a huge difference!!

Emily was awesome! She was an excellent communicator, arrived on time, provided several updates a day and was flexible with our schedule. Our dog had a great time and was well cared for while we were away. We would book her again in the future!
