Experienced Dog Caretaker
Pet care experience
I have always had dogs in my life, and I currently have 3 of my own. I worked in veterinary emergency and critical care for 2 years and spent several months at a fear-free general practice before needing to take a step back from vetmed. I have 6 years of personal experience with dog training and behavior, and spent some time volunteering for a rescue on the administrative end. I am very knowledgeable on dog behavior/body language and I am comfortable working with a wide range of temperaments, ages, and breeds. Puppies, medical/behavioral needs pups, and seniors are my specialty! I am also RECOVER CPR certified.
Reviews
Emi is kind, reliable, and very personable. She shows up on time and always ready to get the job done. She is trustworthy and is very capable. Emi cares so much about all animals - she will definitely take care of your pets like her own. She also has experience handling reactive dogs. She's very passionate about wildlife and rescues! To say that Emi is an animal lover, is truly an understatement.

Safety, trust & environment
I use reward-based/force-free handling techniques with any dog I interact with. I try my hardest to set dogs up for success in my interactions with them - I am not afraid to spend as much time as needed to gain the trust of a fearful dog before attempting to interact directly. I am a strong believer in using body language, reward, and moving at the dog's pace to ensure dogs make good choices and have a positive experience every time they interact with me. I treat all pets I interact with as if they are my own!
Information Emi G. would like to know about your pet
Please notify me of any medical or behavioral needs ahead of time. I am willing to work with most dogs, but a thorough description of your dog's fears, temperament, and motivators will help me develop a plan for us to give your pup the easiest time adjusting to a new person in their life. A list of any medications they are on and allergies they have is also required. For pet sitting, please include instructions on what to do in case of a medical emergency; including a phone number you are reachable by, your primary veterinarian, and instructions on what to do in the event you can not be reached by phone.
A typical day
I am an avid hiker and hikes are always better with a dog. I do a lot of silly training and enrichment as well- I absolutely love how intelligent dogs are, and it's incredible what they can learn to do. I like to use free-shaping and puzzles to work a dog's brain so they feel both physically and mentally fulfilled at the end of the day.
