Lifelong Dog Lover – Treating yours like my own
Pet care experience
A Lifetime of Loving and Caring for Dogs I’ve never known life without dogs — they’ve always been at the heart of my home. Over the years, I’ve raised and cared for four wonderful dogs of various breeds, from sight hounds to gun dogs, guiding them from playful puppies to their golden years. Currently, my fiancé (Jack) and I have a one-year-old Golden Retriever named Bonnie, who we’ve raised since she was just 8 weeks old. Bonnie is full of energy and joy, and we keep her mind and body active with weekly obedience and agility classes, along with long, fun-filled walks. We live just a short walk from a popular dog-friendly park and are only a quick drive away from beautiful walking spots like Calke Abbey and Kedleston Country Park — perfect for dogs who love exploring. I’ve also cared for friends’ and family dogs many times, treating them as my own. More than once, we’ve been told their dogs didn’t want to leave — and that’s the best compliment we could ask for. With years of hands-on experience, a deep love for dogs, and a calm, dog-friendly home, I’d love the chance to care for your pup like part of our family. We also have a secure garden where your pup can safely explore, play, or relax throughout the day.
Reviews

I have just picked Finn my GSD up from a weekend stay with Ellie and her partner Jack. It was obvious he didn’t want to leave. Ellie sent me some lovely videos of Finn having fun on walks with their dog Bonnie. I would fully recommend Ellie and Finn will definitely be back to stay soon .
Ellie is a great pet sitter. She looked after Darcy really well. She puts the dogs welfare ahead of everything she does. When Darcy stayed the weather was hot, Ellie ensured she was walked early in the day and provided a doggie paddling pool for her to keep cool in. Much to Darcy’s delight! Ellie kept informed of Darcy’s stay with photos and messages which was great. Would use Ellie again to look after Darcy and recommend her to other dog owners.
Ellie has had dogs all her life and is a real animal lover! She will care and look after your pet as if it was her own. Highly recommend!
Ellie is a responsible, loving, caring dog owner who treats all dogs with the utmost respect and affection. Ellie has trained her dog to an exceptional level and has nurtured Bonnie into the most loving dog I know. Ellie is great with other dogs too and is passionate about dogs being cared for at the highest standards. Ellie always ensures that the dogs she is caring for are well looked after, exercised and engaged each day. Ellie has cared for other dogs in the past at the request of friends and family, and the dogs she looks after always love coming to see her. Ellie is a true advocate for exceptional dog care and I have no doubt she will continue to maintain her high standards.

Safety, trust & environment
Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. We treat every pet as if they were our own. At home, we provide a calm, dog-friendly environment with plenty of structure, affection, and attention. Our house is secure and safe, with a fully enclosed garden where dogs can explore and play freely under supervision. We’ve also installed dog cameras downstairs so we can keep an eye on things at all times. Bonnie, our well-trained and gentle Golden Retriever, is a wonderful companion for visiting dogs. She’s calm, friendly, and well-socialized thanks to ongoing training and regular exposure to new dogs and situations. We follow your dog’s usual routine as closely as possible, whether that means specific feeding times, crate training, medication, or special walks. For dogs that feel more comfortable with their own space, we’re happy to set up Bonnie’s old large crate as a quiet, secure area. Walks are always done on-lead in safe environments like our local park or nearby countryside trails (such as Calke Abbey and Kedleston Country Park), and we tailor the length and intensity based on your dog’s age, breed, and energy level. Trust is everything when it comes to caring for your pet. We’ll keep you updated with photos, messages, and honest communication so you can feel confident and at ease while your dog is in our care. We want them to feel safe, relaxed, and loved — just like they do at home.

A typical day
We love making sure the dogs in our care have a great time while feeling safe and loved. Depending on your dog’s personality and energy levels, we’ll tailor activities to suit them — whether that’s active adventures or calm companionship. We enjoy taking dogs on long, enriching walks through our local park or nearby countryside spots like Calke Abbey and Kedleston Country Park. These outings are great for exercise, sniffing, and exploring new environments. If your dog enjoys social time, they may also join our own dog, Bonnie, for play sessions or relaxed walks together. At home, we keep things fun and stimulating with puzzle toys, snuffle mats, and interactive games. We also practice basic obedience and offer calm downtime in our secure garden or sunny conservatory — perfect for dogs who love to lounge and recharge. Whether it’s playing fetch, going on a sniffari, or simply having cuddle time on the sofa, your dog will get plenty of attention, engagement, and affection during their stay with us.

Pet care is an important part of our daily routine and something we’ve truly built our lives around. Although my fiancé and I both work full-time Monday to Friday, our workplace is only a short walk from home. This allows us to return during lunch breaks — often at different times — to let our Golden Retriever, Bonnie, out for toilet breaks and to check in on her throughout the day. We start every morning early with a trip to the local park, where Bonnie can burn off energy and enjoy some focused obedience training. These sessions help keep her mentally sharp and physically fulfilled before we leave for work. While we’re away, we leave enrichment activities like lick mats and puzzle feeders to keep her stimulated, and we’ve installed doggy cameras downstairs so we can keep a close eye on her during the day. Bonnie is surprisingly calm for her age and breed — a reflection of the consistent training we’ve done since she was a puppy. She’s very settled in our home, even without our presence, and loves nothing more than curling up on the conservatory sofa to bask in the sun and nap. We have a secure garden where your pup can safely explore, play, or relax throughout the day. We’re happy to board your dog(s) on weekends from Friday evening through Sunday night. If care is needed during the week, we’re open to discussing options with enough notice. Your dog will always be treated like one of our own, with a calm and secure environment, tailored attention, and plenty of affection. Bonnie is fully house trained, was previously crate trained, and now has full access to the house (with no chewing in sight!). She’s a gentle, friendly companion and would be great company for your dog. We also have her old large crate available if your pup prefers a cozy, safe space of their own. We’re just a short walk from a lovely local park frequented by dog walkers, and a quick drive from some beautiful walking spots like Calke Abbey and Kedleston Country Park. After long muddy walks, we’re always happy to give your dog a wash before they settle back in.
