Great with Reactive Dogs
Pet care experience
The first puppy I ever sat turned 9 in early 2024 and I've developed many great relationships with dogs and their humans since. That first puppy was a rescue with a traumatic start in life and I've developed many skills to care for reactive dogs. The minimum time I will walk a dog is 30 minutes and I will stay with a dog in their home for extended care periods to minimise stress on them. I also value ongoing relationships with dogs so I always offer an optional no charge meet and greet before starting to care for a dog.

Reviews

David is a sweet & caring young man, willing to take on a whirling dervish such as my Seamus! He knows how to hang back and figure out the puppers in front of him before asserting himself in any way. Bravo! I would recommend David for any dog & their human ♥️
David has taken care of both my dog and cat for the past few years. My dog can be extremely reactive around other dogs, and David is so patient with her. It's difficult to find a dog walker who understands how to manage her reactivity while also working to help her overcome it and I'm so lucky that David has been around to help. He's also one of the few people that my cat Lily will come out to see... She's so shy and nervous, but she will actually visit with David and I appreciate the pictures of them hanging out. This eases my mind so much when I'm away since it's very unusual for her to be comfortable around another person!
David has been our dog sitter for years. We have a reactive pitty and a blind and deaf beagle mix. Our dogs have high needs and David is one of the few people we trust to care for them, walk them, and love them. David formed a quick, trusted bond, especially with our reactive dog, I was so impressed. I cannot recommend David enough, they are an amazing person who deeply cares about all pets, they love our dogs and treat our home with so much respect while we travel. Thanks David!
David has cared for my dogs a number of times. My dog Posey is a very particular dog who is often difficult for strangers to connect to, but David has managed to gain her trust (a remarkable thing if you know Posey!) and has been a very trustworthy pet sitter. Posey is also difficult on walks because she's more reactive towards other dogs, but David has been able to take her out and get through the world with her. I also recently got a puppy and David has been great for coming to puppysit on the days I had to be out of the house longer than I felt comfortable leaving a puppy alone for. I highly recommend David!

I do not take pets into my home as I prefer to stay with them in order to minimise stress and take them on walks to familiar places.
Information David U. would like to know about your pet
I have a lot of experience with reactive dogs and senior cats so I would like to know what their needs are and I offer a free meet and greet for all new ongoing clients so I can make sure the pets and I are familiar with each other and their needs.
A typical day
I enjoy creating towel knots or using snuffle mats to encourage mental stimulation. Cats are often particular with toys so I will use their favourite ones to entertain them and get them moving. My preference is to take dogs on 40+ minute walks every 3-4 hours so we can get some outside time and investigate sights and smells outside.

I'm currently a self employed consultant so I am available the whole day when I indicate I am available. For walks, I take dogs on minimum 30 minute walks and if I'm sitting a dog for a day or more, will only leave them for a maximum of 4 hours on any given day.
