Safety, trust & environment

My property is an unfenced 20 acres with plenty of enrichment areas for your dogs stay. Your dog will be leashed on the property at all times as we explore the pond, fields and abundance of wildlife that make their appearance. I am able to accommodate your current feeding schedule, and prefer to use your provided dog food so as to eliminate upset tummies, though can provide a quality kibble for an additional cost per day should it be necessary.

Home

Information Dana Y. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if there are any special needs that your dog has, as I like to be prepared ahead of time. Also, I prefer that you bring your dogs own food with you so that they do not have to experience a dietary change. I do keep a quality kibble on hand in the event that travel schedules change and added meals may be needed for an extended stay, though these abrupt dietary changes can be hard on dogs, so it's best to avoid them. I do like to do a Meet and Greet before accepting clients, as I feel it’s important to know if we are on the same page regarding how your dog(s) will be cared for, and expectations on both sides. I think it’s also important that you are comfortable with where they will be residing while you are away. I do require copies of current vaccination records. This is for the safety of your dog, other visitors coming after you, as well as my dog. Titer testing is adequate as a substitute for vaccinations for approved clients. Please be current on your flea and tick preventative! Sorry, fleas are just icky and I don’t want them in my home or on my dog nor yours! Lol!

A typical day

I love playing outside with dogs whenever weather permits. Whether we are exploring the woods, fields, pond or are walking on the nearby park trails. If your dog is reliable off-leash, we will engage in lots of fetch play, and if they love water, I'm always up for taking them swimming. Inside the house, your dog will have baskets and baskets of toys to play with, Kuranda beds to relax on and enrichment games to keep them occupied. Kongs are always everywhere and filled for their quiet time. I do keep soothing music on at all times as a relaxing environment is what I strive for when they're away from their homes.

Beautiful, quiet country setting!

Pet care experience

We have a beautiful country home that we love offering to area residents looking for a warm, quiet and relaxing haven for you to have your adult dog or puppy stay while you are away. Our home is on 20 acres and includes a 3/4 acre pond, fields and woods to explore. We are even in the process of creating walking trails through the wooded areas of the property! After growing up with horses and training/showing for 50 years, and have always had a variety of dogs on the farm, I've recently transitioned to the world of dog showing. I am thoroughly enjoying this phase of life. I have created a boutique style of dog boarding, and will only be taking on a couple of dogs at a time, to provide the utmost attention to detail and one on one care of your precious family member(s). I have fostered several dogs in the past that have come from horrific conditions, so I'm comfortable with working with scared, traumatized or “difficult” dogs. I am adept at administering medications, subcutaneous or IM injections and providing whatever feeding style your dogs currently enjoy. I personally raw feed my own dog, and always welcome other raw feeders. I do insist, for your dogs safety as well as my home, that your dogs be comfortable with crating. They will only ever be in a crate if we are not in the home, however to not unduly stress your dog, they do need to be familiar with and accepting of a crate. I have several styles and sizes in my home, so crates and appropriate bedding will be provided.
