My Dr. Doolittle Story 🐾 I’ve been called “Dr. Doolittle” since I was a child. Animals find me. When I was 10 years old, the animal kingdom really started showing up for my help. The first was a possum I found on the side of the road. She was dehrydrated, and I had never seen a possum before. Wow! Her pinkness, that incredibly long tail, and those sharp little teeth filled me with wonder and joy. I knew she needed help. I took her to a nearby neighbor who also loved animals, and together we got her cooled down and drinking water in no time. Then, during that very same week, a beagle puppy showed up on my doorstep. The little pup was covered in ticks and fleas. I sat with the puppy and carefully removed each tick with a pair of tweezers. Then I gave the pup a bath, got rid of the fleas, and made sure this little visitor was cared for. Then I found the puppy a loving home with a neighbor. And they kept showing up. I’ve never thought of caring for animals as simply feeding them, walking them, or making sure their basic needs are met. For me, there has always been a relationship. I notice who they are. And I grow to adore them for exactly who they are. I become attuned to them. I learn what makes them comfortable, what makes their tail wag, and the little ways they communicate without words. Some of my very best friends have always been dogs. But my love for animals doesn’t stop with dogs. Over the years, I’ve cared for and connected with dogs, cats, horses, and animals with all kinds of personalities and needs. That lifelong connection eventually became part of the inspiration for Their Loving Friend Pet & Home Care. When you leave your animal in my care, I understand you aren’t simply leaving behind “a pet.” You’re entrusting me with a beloved companion and, oftentimes, your very best friend. That’s why I take the time to learn the little things that make each animal who they are. Maybe it’s a favorite toy or blanket, a certain place they love to nap, or the walk they look forward to every day. Maybe it’s a particular way they like to be petted or played with, a familiar sound that comforts them, or simply having someone close by. And, of course, I learn which snack makes their eyes light up. Those little things aren’t little to them. My goal is to become a familiar, trusted presence while you’re away, so your animals can remain comfortable in their own home, surrounded by the things, routines, and comforts they know and love. And while you’re enjoying your time away, I want your pet to feel like they’re having a little vacation of their own: extra attention, favorite walks, playtime, cuddles, and, if they love car rides and their family approves, maybe even a little trip in the car for a pup cup. I want them to feel safe, loved, and happy, and to know that even though you’re away, their loving friend is here. Their Loving Friend Pet & Home Care Care. Love. Friendship.
