Pet care experience

Passionate Dog Lover, Trainer, Certified First Aid

I've had dogs in my life for as long as I remember (30+ years experience). Back in Canada, I had a variety of larger breeds (shepherds, dobermanns), while my partner Heidi grew up with small breeds (mini-poodles, terriers). Together, we love and care for dogs all breeds and sizes! I am a certified in Pet First Aid (2025) trained in CPR and wound management. Training a rescue dog has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I focus on creating a safe and structured environment where they can learn basic commands, socialisation skills, and proper behaviour without fear or anxiety. Using a combination of reward based training and gentle guidance and plenty of play, I’ve successfully helped rescue dogs transform into well-adjusted confident dogs. Caring for older more senior dogs is completely different yet equally fulfilling experience. Senior dogs have specific health needs, require a more relaxed pace and benefit from a different kind of attention.

Doggy Day Care • Apr 25, 2026

Dalcon and Heidi looked after Arthur today and kept our minds at ease from the moment we dropped him off until we picked him up. They are very professional and clearly care about the dogs they look after. I will definitely be using them again and I recommend them to everyone. They are super sweet!

Dog Walking • Dec 15, 2025

Our fur baby had an amazing time with Dalcon! Kiko was tired in the end -tired dog is a good dog ! :) We've got loads of pictures and videos during the walk and was so nice to see Kiko was having such a nice time while in Dalcon care! He is a very responsible person and I will happily use his service again in the future! Thank you once again!

Our shy rescue dog boarded with Dalcon and Heidi for 6 weeks. Judging from his demeanour when we picked him up again (he was reluctant to leave) and from the videos, our dog had a great time and felt very safe with Dalcon and Heidi, which is really saying something because he can be quite anxious. We got daily updates on his stay. Highly recommend!

Dalcon and Heidi we would highly recommend. They really took great / gentle care of my sensitive female dog Luna and at a busy time of year. We received daily photos and updates which our short holiday was relaxed. Not only this’s but they kept a keen eye on her occasional immune / arthritis condition; which, again, was very kind and attentive action. Luna can be a little fragile when we go away but this time she obviously had as good a break as we did!

Dal and Heidi looked after our Cockapoo, Poppy, for a week and it was the first time we had used them. From the first day of leaving her Dal and Heidi sent us loads of photos and videos as well as keeping up to date as to how she was doing. We couldn't have asked for more! When we collected her after returning from holiday she was happy and had thoroughly enjoyed her stay! We are so happy with how Dal and Heidi looked after Poppy and would definitely ask them to look after her again if needed!

As a dedicated dog lover and a rescue dog parent, pet care is seamlessly integrated into my daily routine, thanks to the flexibility of my remote work role. Safety, trust & environment

Having a rescue dog means understanding the importance of a stable and supportive environment. To provide this, my partner and I have created a schedule that ensures one of us is always home to look after the dogs. We alternate our days so that even on busier workdays, there is always someone present to attend to their needs. This arrangement provides our dogs with a sense of security and continuous companionship. We have a fenced garden with lawn so there is always outdoor space for the dogs.

Pets

A typical day

Throughout the day, I will provide plenty of water, affection, and attention, keeping the dogs comfortable and happy. Each dog’s needs are carefully catered to, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for the pets. We will have one morning walk together. I will take the dogs to a nearby park with a walking trail, where they can explore, sniff, and get their energy out. I will keep watchful eye on the dogs, making sure they are safe, hydrated, and well-behaved. They may practice basic commands like “sit” and “stay” to reinforce training during the walk. In the afternoon, a second walk is taken, but this one is usually shorter and less energetic. It’s a chance for the dogs to get some fresh air, stretch their legs, and take care of any bathroom needs. On the Walk: The dogs might be taken on a different route or to another area to keep things exciting. It’s also a time to check in on their energy levels and ensure no one is feeling stressed or overstimulated. Rest & Pick-up Prep: As the day winds down, dogs begin to relax, awaiting their owners. I ensure each dog is calm and ready for pick-up. Any last bathroom breaks are given, and dogs are cleaned up if necessary.
