Pet care experience

I love all dogs! (And cats!)

I'm from a dog-loving family. My folks had as many as five dachshunds at a time and fostered dozens of dogs over decades. My last dog died over a decade ago and I still miss him. I'm no longer in a position to own more pets, so I feel I could be of service to the community by helping local families care for their pets. (I love cats, too!) As of June, 2026, after three years with Rover, Rover has revoked my star status. This is not because of poor job performance or negative reviews. This is because when you don't get enough repeat business it doesn't serve their bottom line. It's counter intuitive, but if for whatever reason -- remote home base, clients dying or moving, etc. -- if the company can't keep that profit line moving upward, they no longer promote you, no matter how great a sitter you are. It doesn't help anyone that this is company policy. So, check out my reviews and decide for yourself if I would be a good caregiver for your furby. Thank you. 🙂

Having Connie care for Zuzu was worry free and delightful. Zuzu was relaxed and happy. A pleasure all round. We have her taking care of Zuzu again soon. So glad we now have a reliable person available when we need to be away.

Connie is very pleasant and was communicative when I inquired how things were going. I used the house sitting service for my cat as he has peculiar habits. She left the house immaculate. I wrote out directions before I left and they were followed well. I would have her back to care for Joe anytime. He was very less stressed and more relaxed when I got home, compared to just having some one come in to feed and do litter duty a couple times a day leaving him alone.

Schedule

I'm retired and live alone, but I work part-time at home as an Editor to stay somewhat busy, until I fully retire at 80 this August. (Don't be put off by my age please. I still like to climb trees and run with my canine clients.😄) As of June 2026, my star sitter status is being revoked after three years. I live in the boonies and pet sitting does not provide much income for me. But because I don't have many clients, and have had clients die and move away, Rover decided that I no longer deserve star sitter status, since I don't have enough repeat business to warrant the designation. It has nothing to do with job performance or great reviews. It's just all about the bottom line. So please know that I will take exceptional care of your furbies in spite of losing my star sitter status. Thanks for understanding. 🙂

Any special attention or special needs will be given and met. I know human CPR and first aid, and how to dislodge a ball from a dog's throat, but not canine CPR. I think it's important to have the family vet's number immediately available in case of an emergency.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
