I’m a college student and only have class two days a week, so I have a lot of free time during the rest of the week. Because of that, I’ve started offering pet-sitting and dog-walking services to make good use of my schedule. My open availability makes it easy to help pet owners who work long hours, travel, or just need someone dependable to check in on their animals. I can handle daily walks, feeding, playtime, and basic care, and I’m available on short notice most weekdays and weekends. Pet sitting has been a great way to earn extra money while spending time with animals, and it fits perfectly with my flexible college routine.

Safety, trust & environment

Whether I’m caring for pets in my own home or in a client’s home, my goal is to keep them safe, happy, and comfortable while following the routine they’re used to. In a client’s home: I make sure to follow all instructions for feeding, walking, playtime, and medication if needed. I keep the home tidy, give pets plenty of attention, and send regular updates and photos so owners know how their pets are doing. In my home (if applicable): I provide a clean, pet-friendly space with room to play and relax. Dogs get regular walks, exercise, and cuddle time, and I keep their feeding and bathroom schedules consistent with what they’re used to. Because I’m a college student with a flexible schedule, I can spend extra time with pets, giving them the attention and care they need throughout the day instead of just quick check-ins.

Information Colton M. would like to know about your pet

Before caring for a pet, I like to learn as much as possible so I can keep them safe, healthy, and comfortable. Important details include: Routine: Feeding schedule, walk times, potty habits, and any special bedtime or playtime routines. Health needs: Medications, allergies, past injuries, or any ongoing medical conditions. Behavior traits: How they react to strangers, other animals, loud noises, or new environments. Likes and dislikes: Favorite toys, treats, activities, and anything that makes them nervous or upset. House rules: Areas of the home that are off-limits, crate training, or special instructions (like keeping doors locked or using certain cleaning products). Knowing these details ahead of time helps me provide care that’s as close as possible to what they get from their owners, which keeps pets happy and reduces stress while their family is away.

A typical day

I love keeping pets active and entertained, so I tailor activities to each pet’s age, energy level, and personality. For dogs, that might mean daily walks around the neighborhood, playing fetch, tug-of-war, or exploring nearby parks if the owner approves. For more playful pups, I’ll add games like hide-and-seek with toys or simple training sessions to keep their minds sharp. Senior dogs get gentle strolls and plenty of cuddle time to keep them comfortable. For cats, I’ll use toys, feather wands, and interactive play to keep them engaged, plus lots of affection if they enjoy it. My goal is to make sure every pet feels loved, stimulated, and happy while their family is away.

Pet care experience

I’ve had dogs my entire life, so I’m experienced and comfortable with all breeds, sizes, and personalities. I’m a huge dog person who truly loves spending time with them—whether it’s going for long walks, playing fetch, or just giving them extra attention and affection. As a college student with classes only two days a week, I have a very flexible schedule that allows me to provide reliable care during weekdays, weekends, and even last-minute requests. Pet sitting isn’t just a side job for me; it’s something I genuinely enjoy. Every dog I care for is treated like part of my own family, and I always make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while their owners are away.
