Availability
My schedule is open. My part-time nursing job is sporadic, and so if there's a bit of flexibility in timing, I'll be available most days. General availability is 10am-7pm, except Sunday mornings, but I'm open to broadening that schedule (except Sunday mornings ;) for the right job.

Safety, trust & environment
I'm very careful to follow all directions as given--an old holdover from my hospital work. I love to engage with pets in whatever way they enjoy...playing, petting, talking to them, etc. I'm not the type of person to push food and water and take off. If I'm there, I'm going to love on my furry friends for a while. That's just how I roll :)
Information Clarissa W. would like to know about your pet
I like details, including the following: ~ Any special requirements or needs, like medications, medical conditions, a tendency towards shyness, fears of things, or things that rile him up. ~ What your pet enjoys as far as activities, and what types of things you would like me to do while visiting your pet. ~ If there are special food requirements ~ If there is any trouble the dog tends to get into that needs to be avoided. I need to know if certain things need to be kept out of reach! Your dog is an individual, and I want to make sure I know what makes your pet unique, so I can provide the best care possible.
A typical day
The first thing I want to do is learn what my particular furry friend enjoys doing. I'm not going to be able to walk dogs on regular basis, but I'm happy to go out in the backyard and throw toys for fetch, and help them work off some energy. For cats, I'm happy to play with them if that's something they enjoy, or interact in whatever way would be beneficial. I am not a high energy person, but I'm happy to do what I can to help high energy pets play and have fun. I love to have fun as well! The individual preferences of your pet will be my guide.

Pet Nurse Providing Great Care <><
Pet care experience
With over 7 years of pet-care experience, and almost 8 years as a professional nurse, I'll provide top-quality care for your pet. I saw my cousin's cat through surgery, including administering medication daily. Healthy pets are wonderful as well, as I love playing and cuddling with furry friends. I've even raised wild robins who needed care, and one returned to me with a broken wing--later healing and going back to the wild. I'm a caregiver at heart. I want the best for your pet, and animals seem to sense that about me. A wild squirrel ate out of my hand (see photos), and a scared, previously-abused dog learned to love and trust me. I'm eager to provide the same excellent care for your beloved pet. <><
Reviews
Clarissa was an excellent dog sitter for my 2 elderly cockers. She patiently waited for them to warm up to her during the drop in visits and administered meds to them along with their regular food and treats. I had no worries while they were in her care!

Clarissa was great with my cats! She was very good with communication and regular updates as well as pictures and videos and took the time to give them plenty of attention. Highly recommended!
Clarissa is a great pet caretaker, with her background as an RN and kind regards for all animals! She did a wonderful job taking care of my two cats, one of whom is a fair bit of trouble! He likes to escape out the front door any chance he gets, and Clarissa successfully kept him corralled. She gave both cats their meds (pill and liquid) faithfully and successfully (one cat likes to spit out pills). She also took care of a friend's dog Sadie when she was in a new state and having trouble adjusting to her environment. Clarissa really helped Sadie to feel comfortable and warm up to people. I would wholeheartedly recommend that Clarissa sit for any pets, because I know they'll be safe and happy in her care.
Clarissa is my sister and wanted me to write about how she is with animals. She wanted me to write about how she took care of our dog when we first got her. Yeah, she did a great job, but that isn't the story that really characterizes the care she puts into living creatures. When we were kids she found three robins that had fallen out of their nest. There was no way for them to be safe with cats roaming around the neighborhood, so she took them in. Long story short, one of them didn't make it, but she raised and released two of them. Months later, we found a full grown robin with a hurt wing on our doorstep. One of her babies came back home to "mom" to get help when it got hurt. If you want somebody who will take good care of your critters, she is literally recommended by wild birds.
