Hi! I live in east Charlotte and currently have a female Italian Spinone (born Dec. 2020) and a male Spinone (born March 2024) who love all dogs and people. I brought Penny home in Feb. 2021 after being dog-less for over a year. My beloved first dog, Boone the Bull Mastiff, passed from bone cancer in Oct. 2019 and he was afraid of dogs and kids so I have a lot of experience with the giant babies. He and I were together for a great 8.5 years. I live in a single family house in East Charlotte with my husband and we have a fully fenced .5 acre back yard. I do not have kids or cats so if your dog is dog friendly but needs a more chill environment than doggy daycare, I could be a good fit. I work from home full time and like to do Saturday morning hikes or little weekend adventures. My neighbors and I have a “puppy swap” type program where we host play dates so if your dog needs lots of socialization and play time, we can set that up also.

Ava is always in great hands during her time with Claire. She lived her best life seeing her friend Penny, meeting Louie. Lots of fun playing in the backyard and lounging in the pool! I appreciate the photos and videos Claire shared with me during Ava’s stay.
Claire, Jackson, and Penny treated Scout to a vacation while we were on ours. We are so grateful for their hospitality and time with her!

#1 pet sitter and caretaker! First, Ava’s stayed with Claire a couple of times now as a puppy and Claire always seems to remember the details from our previous stay such as time of day for probiotics. Second, her knowledge and experience with dogs. I thought Ava’s mischief with my sofa was the source for her behaving differently, but Claire noticed a change in Ava and contacted me. I offered to cancel my plans and pick up Ava. But Claire assured me and after touching base with my vet and Claire she made sure Ava was seen by her vet and started Ava on medications. She kept me up to date along the way. I felt awful for the extra attention Ava needed this stay, but also so grateful for Claire. Her knowledge of dogs has helped me better learn Ava. Her love and kindness for dogs is reassuring and evident by the care Ava receives with Claire. Ava truly looks forward to see Claire, Penny and Jackson. And their all happy to see her too! Thank you again Claire!

I generally give the dogs the run of the place. They’re welcome on couches and I have dog beds in the living room, bedroom and office. If they like hiking, they’re welcome to join me, Penny and Louie. We live about 4 doors down from the Evergreen Nature Preserve and walk there almost daily.

I’d love to know your dogs quirks. What they like/don’t like. How they tell you they need to go outside. If they have a prey drive/ anything I should keep an eye out for. Favorite snacks or dietary restrictions.
A typical day
I have a great nature preserve near my house that offers wooded trails for walking. There are rarely other dogs out there. If your pup is up to it, I’m also always at the NoDa Company Store and around Plaza Midwood at dog friendly establishments.

Availability
I have a doggy door so my dog can go in and out as she pleases. If your dog is crated, we can do that, or we use our office as a dog room with crates and access to the backyard.
