To achieve this, I adhere to several best practices: Outdoor Supervision Even in a fenced yard, I always supervise pets during outdoor activities. Pets can be surprisingly adept at finding escape routes, such as digging under or jumping over fences. By keeping a watchful eye, I can promptly address any attempts to escape and prevent potential accidents.  Safety Around Doorways Pets are naturally curious and may attempt to dart outside when doors are opened. To prevent this, I ensure that pets are safely secured or redirected before opening any exterior doors. This practice minimizes the risk of pets slipping out unnoticed and encountering outdoor hazards. Removing Potential Hazards Creating a safe environment involves identifying and removing items that could be harmful to pets. This includes securing loose objects that pets might chew on or ingest, and ensuring that small household items are out of reach to prevent choking hazards.  Additional Safety Measures Beyond these practices, I also focus on: • Hydration: Ensuring pets have constant access to fresh water, especially during warmer months, to prevent dehydration.  • Paw Care: After outdoor activities, I check and clean pets’ paws to remove any debris or harmful substances they might have stepped on, such as salt or chemicals. • Secure Outdoor Access: If the home has a pet door, I ensure it’s used appropriately and leads to a secure area, preventing unsupervised outdoor excursions.  By implementing these measures, I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment for your pets while you’re away.
