Loving, Caring Individual Attention

Hi, my name is Carina. I’m a dog lover with 37 years of experience being a pet parent to four dogs -- one Irish Setter and three Labrador Retrievers. I am deeply passionate about all animals and their wellbeing. I believe in positive behavior reinforcement – rewards and praise for desired behavior – as it helps build a strong bond with your dog based on trust and respect. Over the years, I have enrolled my dogs in a wide range of training classes from puppy basics to becoming Good Canine Citizens. Dog behavior has always fascinated me – why do dogs do the things they do? It is a forever learning experience, that is for certain! I discovered that one of my Labs (Polo) had a natural gift for being a therapy dog. She had a calm demeanor, patience, confidence and a love for human contact. Polo went through formal training and was certified through Therapy Dogs International. We became a team and volunteered 2.5 years at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Scully-Welsh Cancer Center, offering comfort and smiles to patients and staff. For three years I volunteered at the Humane Society of Vero Beach, Florida, working with shelter dogs as a trainer, socializer and dog walker. I’m certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. I’m the author of a reflection journal I created for dog lovers titled “Dogs Leave Paw Prints Everywhere, Especially Upon Your Heart: Forever Imprinted”. The purpose of the journal is for pet parents, families and children to record the special relationship they share with their dog through guided writing prompts.

Safety, trust & environment

I’m passionate about all dogs and the different stages of their lives. I have an especially soft heart for senior dogs. From my years of experience as a pet parent, I understand the concern we have for our dogs when we leave them in the care of others. I will care for your dog as I would my own. Dogs are individual beings with their own unique personalities. They have their likes and dislikes – just like we humans do. The more I know about your dog, the more prepared I’ll be to keep your pet happy and safe.

Carina is a wonderful pet sitter. Our dog Mason loves all the attention he gets when she comes to stay. Communication is great with pictures and updates every day. She has helped us twice and we will definitely be asking for her help again in the near future. We highly recommend Carina!

I would be very upset if I had to leave my dogs with someone else. My dogs are my family and I trust her 100%.

Carina did a great job looking after our dog. She gave us daily updates with pictures, and was very calm and gentle with our dog, who is easily excitable. We have already booked her for another stay later this year!

Carina did great with Fin, we came home to a happy pup. She kept in touch providing us updates about his days, which allows for piece of mind while away.

Carina was a wonderful house and dog sitter for Kodiak! She communicated with us promptly each and every day, giving us thorough updates on his activities, emotional state, energy level, etc...She sent pictures of him playing with his toys, burying bones, and just relaxing around the house. The regular updates and photos really reassured us that everything was going fine. Upon returning home, we found a house that was well taken care of, clean and tidier than when we left it. Our yard was in better shape too, with dog-dug holes filled in and poop picked up. Carina provided us with a truly professional level of service, and we're looking forward to working with her again!
