Hello! I’m Calista, an undergraduate student at American University with a distinct love for the outdoors and connecting with all animals, big and small. I have 2 years of experience dog-walking and pet-sitting for my neighbors back home in Colorado, in addition to taking care of my family’s high-energy Basenji since she was a puppy. I can offer a caring, consistent, and patient approach to taking care of puppies or young dogs with high levels of energy. During my time pet-sitting in Colorado, I also walked and pet-sat an older Lab with cancer, offering him sweet, loving care despite his challenges. That being said, I don’t have a preference for size and age as I get along with all animals, and I can adjust my pace and energy level to match your pet’s needs. I consider myself a highly responsible individual who follows directions well and communicates clearly to ensure the highest quality of care for your pet(s). I am also an extremely cleanly person, so if I am pet-sitting at or simply dropping by your home, I am also more than happy to complete small chores as needed—vacuuming, watering plants, taking out trash, etc. Whether it’s catching new sights and smells on a walk, playing fetch in your backyard while pet-sitting, or just being doted on by someone with a caring, loving attitude during a drop-in visit, I can guarantee that your pet(s) will have a fun, safe, and fulfilling experience with me as their caretaker. **I ACCEPT SAME-DAY AND LAST-MINUTE CARETAKING REQUESTS.**

Calista was able to help me out after a last minute cancellation & went above and beyond caring for our big 80lb Rottweiler. Communication was kept at a “need-to-know” basis. She gave him long walks, was attentive to his demeanor while adjusting in our new home, and a respectful house guest.

A typical day
I enjoy the outdoors, so dog-walking is one of my favorite activities and I love taking pets out to explore new sights and smells! As an athlete and high-energy person, I particularly enjoy taking dogs to the dog park and playing fetch with them there, as well as taking them on scenic trails for walks, but I am also happy to play with them using their favorite toys in the comfort of their own home. As for cats and other pets, I can provide the reassuring comfort of my presence in their home by doting on them and being particularly conscientious of maintaining a consistent routine with them while you're away. As someone who values attention to detail, I prioritize following the instructions that you leave me for best pet care.

I’m currently on summer break from college, so my schedule is flexible for pet-sitting, dog-walking, and drop-in visits. I would be sure to carefully follow the schedule of eating, playing, dog-walking, sleeping, etc. that is applicable for your pet and the type of care that you are requesting.
