K9 Psychology & Wellness

Pet care experience

I’m a canine behaviorist with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Syracuse University and a lifelong passion for understanding the emotional, psychological, and biological needs of dogs. I specialize in analyzing the unique dynamic between dogs and their humans to identify root causes of behavior—not just symptoms. While no one can truly “fix” a dog, lasting change only happens when the owner is also willing to grow. I provide the tools, knowledge, and insight needed to create a healthier, more balanced relationship—because transformation starts with both ends of the leash. As Cesar Millan says, “I train people, not dogs.” The way a dog behaves is often a reflection of its environment and the human energy that shapes it. I help owners understand their dogs on a deeper level—because human psychology and dog psychology are inseparably linked. In fact, many foundational studies in human psychology began with dogs. That said, I believe in honesty over comfort. If your actions or patterns are contributing to your dog’s behavior, I will respectfully but directly call it out. My goal isn’t to offend—it’s to bring clarity. If you’re truly seeking solutions, I won’t hinder the truth behind the root causes. But if you’re looking for someone to coddle unhealthy habits or reinforce excuses, I may not be the right fit—and that’s okay. Beyond behavior, I’m deeply invested in canine wellness. I have extensive knowledge in dog nutrition and curate whole food, species-appropriate diets for dogs. While I’m strongly against processed kibble and most commercial pet foods, I work with each client’s lifestyle and budget to make realistic recommendations that improve their dog’s overall well-being. My services go beyond basic care. Whether I’m walking your dog, offering drop-ins, or staying in your home, I prioritize safety, trust, and the psychological well-being of your pup. I offer more than just companionship—I provide a grounded, enriching presence that helps dogs feel secure and understood in your absence. If you’re looking for someone who sees your dog as more than a pet—someone who recognizes them as a living being shaped by your energy and environment—I’m here to help you both thrive.

Great with Cal! Anthony is very responsive, responsible, and always on time. I was not worried about Cals health or safety at all when we were gone. I will definitely request him in the future.

Anthony does a fantastic job with my timid chihuahua. He is very sweet and patient with her and she is slowly coming out of her shell!

Anthony is just delightful, dependable and an attentive friend for Willow. I needed care for Willow for a full day and a half while visiting Cleveland during a work conference. Anthony just immediately put me at ease and bonded with Willow. He brought me peace of mind and fun adventures for Willow. I appreciate his kindness and maturity and can’t recommend him highly enough. Thank you Anthony and Willow says Woof ❤️

Safety, trust & environment

Whether I’m caring for a dog in my home or in theirs, I approach it with structure, intention, and calm energy. I prioritize creating a stable, low-stress environment—one where the dog feels safe, respected, and understood. I learn their routine, observe their behavior closely, and maintain consistency to avoid unnecessary stress. In my client’s home, I respect the space as if it were my own and make sure to reinforce any boundaries or routines already in place. I also evaluate the dog’s behavior in their environment to better understand what might be influencing their state of mind. If caring for a dog in my own home (if/when offered), I ensure the space is distraction-free, secure, and mentally stimulating—tailored to the individual dog’s temperament and energy level.

Information Anthony A. would like to know about your pet

The more honest you are about your dog’s behavior and your dynamic with them, the better I can help. I encourage full transparency—don’t hold back details, even if they feel small or uncomfortable. I’ve worked with many dogs across various environments and have become skilled at identifying patterns and drawing conclusions based on behavior. I will eventually pick up on the dynamics at play—so let’s save time and set your dog up for success by being upfront from the start.

A typical day

I tailor every activity to the dog’s unique personality, energy level, and breed history. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all stimulation—I observe how a dog responds to different forms of engagement and build activities around what motivates them. Whether that’s scent work, structured play, confidence-building walks, or calm pack time, I aim to satisfy their natural instincts and give them purpose. Many dogs thrive in environments where a strong, calm leader is present and structure is clear. If socializing is appropriate, I allow dogs to engage with others in a healthy, balanced pack dynamic where I maintain leadership. Dogs don’t just want attention—they want direction, fulfillment, and connection. That’s what I give them.

Pet care isn’t something I squeeze in—it’s something I structure my days around. My daily routine is built to prioritize the dogs I work with, whether that means scheduled walks, training sessions, or drop-in visits. I keep a flexible but intentional schedule that allows me to provide consistent, focused care without rushing or overbooking. Each dog I care for is given individual attention, and I always take time to understand their unique needs, energy levels, and behavioral cues.
