Pet care experience
Growing up on a farm means I have an abundance of experience with animals of all shapes and sizes. This experience has only grown thanks to the 1000+ hours spent caring for a great variety of animals thanks to my preparation for and training in veterinary school. I have worked in several veterinary clinics, a couple of shelter settings, and a commercial aviary. This means I am incredibly comfortable caring for all kinds of pets of any age, as well administering medications and keeping up with unique needs. Much of my love for veterinary medicine comes from the opportunity to bond with people and their pets, and providing pet care is another amazing chance to do just that. I would love to serve you and your four-legged family!

Alex is one of the best dog sitters you could ask for. She is an excellent communicator, respectful, clean, and great with pets! She goes above and beyond to make sure my dogs are well cared for and well loved. Alex had spent a week caring for my two french bulldogs. One has anxiety and is nervous with new people but meeting Alex, he was immediately comfortable with her and had no problems asking for pets and snuggles upon the first meet. My dogs also have health concerns that Alex did a fabulous job monitoring and caring, all the while sending daily updates and photos to me. She cleaned up every mess my dogs left, and I returned from a week long trip with a clean home and happy pups! I could not imagine a better person to care for my dogs while I am away. She provides peace of mind leaving my fur babies behind knowing they are happy, healthy, and loved just as they would be if I were home with them.
Alex recently watched our two golden retrievers and two indoor cats while we were gone for an extended weekend. She was always prompt on her responses leading up to the trip and even came over a few days before to meet the animals and clear up any household questions. During her stay, she sent us texts and images letting us know our doggos and cats were doing well! I would highly recommend Alex to anyone in the area looking for a great pet sitter!
Alex is wonderful with our beagle, Donovan. She takes great care with him and Donovan is always excited to see her. It is a huge comfort for us that with Alex’s background as a Vet student, she knows what to do in the event of an emergency.
Alex watched my dogs while we went on a trip last summer! I have 2 golden retrievers and she kept me continually updated on how the dogs were doing, as they can be quite the little rascals. Alex made sure to play with them each day, and she spent plenty of time with them to make sure they didn't get lonely. The best part was that she sent lots of pictures of Aidan and Gracie (my dogs) throughout the week! Of note is the fact that Gracie can get anxious and panic when there are loud noises such as thunderstorms. I felt completely comfortable leaving her with Alex because I knew that she would be able to calm Gracie down and spend time with her when she was feeling panicked. My family has asked Alex to watch our dogs every trip since last summer!

I take great care to keep your pet's routine as similar as possible to their normal to minimize stress. I love to schedule a meet & greet beforehand to get to know you and your pet, and get to know all the details of their routine. I know what questions to ask to make the process as enjoyable and stress free as possible. I also know how nice it is to come back to a clean home. Therefore, when staying in a client's home I take great care to leave everything exactly as it was or better. That way you can relax knowing your pets are well taken care of, and you have nothing to worry about when you return.

Working in veterinary medicine for several years, I have seen it all and know what questions to ask so I can best provide care and avoid any mishaps while caring for your furry friend! Some things I like to know ahead of time include if they like to get into things they're not supposed to (eating things in the yard, the trash, stealing things off the counter and out of suitcases, etc), how they tend to react to other animals and people on walks, what their normal is (occasional hairballs or accidents in the house, super high energy vs more on the sleepy side, etc), any specific behaviors they do to communicate when they want to play/what they want to do, etc.
A typical day
I absolutely love a good, long walk to explore the neighborhood or a local park. I am also trying to be a runner, and I love to take a friend along if that is something your dog will enjoy. I love to hear about what your dog enjoys doing for play time and cater to their needs. Everybody needs study breaks every now and then, and I've found that to be a great chance to get some play time in!

Availability
Being a student allows for a very flexible schedule, perfect for attentive and personalized pet care! Much of my course work can be done online, so I am often free to hang out with your furry friends while I study throughout the day. I try to build my schedule where I don't need to leave pets alone longer than 6 hours maximum, and I am willing to adjust according to your pet's needs.
