Safety, trust & environment

Dogs must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper vaccines, also must be on preventions for fleas and ticks. I cannot board any dog or small animal that is being treated for or has symptoms of a contagious condition. The safety of our pets is my priority. I book one dog at a time so your pet will have their best experience while here. The yard is large and fully fenced. Should your pup need a walk we are on a quiet dead end street with a nice walking loop. Small animals are kept in a dedicated area in the house just for them, separated from the dogs.

Information Alberta W. would like to know about your pet

It's good to know any likes or dislikes. Medical or behavior issues, allergies, any medications they may be on. What a typical day at home is like, feeding schedule, walks, play time, where they sleep, do they use a crate, cage cleaning (for small animals or birds). Let me know of any quirks or funny habits, this will help make their stay a pleasant one. I cannot take any dogs that have resource guarding issues or are high energy.

A typical day

We can do as little or as much as your dog needs. Walks, playing in the yard, playing with toys, snuggling on the couch. If they are older or just need a quiet area to relax we can do that too. For the pocket pets I will check on them multiple times a day, if needed give them out of cage time, holding, and attention.

Pet care experience

Now boarding dogs as well as pocket pets. Specializing in boarding senior and/or special needs pups. I prefer to board one dog at a time. Familiar with all breeds but extensive experience with Sighthound breeds including Italian Greyhounds, Whippets and Greyhounds who have unique requirements from other dog breeds. In addition I am also boarding small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters. My past jobs with animals includes being a Veterinary Tech Assistant, Pet Sitter and Dog Daycare attendant. I have a certificate in Veterinary Assisting, Red Cross first aid and CPR training for dogs and a 2026 Pet CPR certificate from the RECOVER Initiative. I am a member of and insured with Pet Sitters Associates, LLC. My dog experience includes being a volunteer, foster home and adopter with the following rescue groups: Greyhound Pets of America, Italian Greyhound Rescue of New England, East Coast Italian Greyhound Rescue, Animal Soup Rescue and Sanctuary, Lowell Humane Society, Poodle Rescue of Connecticut, Greyhound Friends and Rescue Dogs Rock NYC. Many of the dogs I cared for were seniors, special needs or both. My small animal experience includes 8 years with MSPCA Nevins Farm Small Animal Task Force. This is a hand picked group of volunteers who work with the more difficult cases such as sick, injured, abused, abandoned and neglected animals. I can currently board rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, doves, pigeons, parakeets and cockatiels. I have an area in my home that is quiet and they will be kept separate from the dogs. I am the proud parent of three rescue dogs, Sadie a black Lab mix, Stanley a Poodle mix and Archie an ex-racing Greyhound. I have two rescued birds, River is a Pigeon and Olive is a Ringneck Dove. We also have chickens and ducks on our property.

Alberta was the best match for "Lucky", my very personable and sweet 15- year old Golden Doodle. Before accepting Lucky for a Sunday-to-Sunday December stay, Alberta asked all the right questions from his daily routine to how best to administer his prescription meds. Alberta also required a current veterinarian record as proof that Lucky was up to date on all his shots and also so she could keep an eye on his health. Aside from a very professional, proficient, and friendly onboarding the real magic happened when Alberta cheerfully greeted Lucky and she knew to give him time and space to acclimate to his new B&B and her own three doggies - a greyhound, a lab and a golden mix. Every morning I received a cutie pie photo of my fur baby in a different scenario which showed me just how well he was doing! Snoozing on his bed, hanging with her other dogs in the fenced in yard, or begging for a treat. Normally when I pick up my boy from other sitters he looks a bit frazzled-as if to say- what was that all about!? LOL But after his stay with Alberta and family Lucky came trotting out, happy to see me and and freshly brushed too. I could see in his eyes that he was well-rested and happy. WOW! Thanks Alberta for all the TLC!

Alberta has sat our Guinea Pig Meadow a handful of times within the past year and Alberta and her family are always so caring and flexible. She has a great space for the critter friends! I know when we go on vacation Meadow is always in good care.

Alberta took great care of my pet mice! She helped me move their cage, put them into their travel carrier for me (which is not an easy task sometimes...), and sent me pictures while I was away so I could see how they were doing. Highly recommended, I'll definitely go back to her if I need to board them again.

So happy to have found Alberta! Our Meadow stayed for six nights and we got updates and pictures of her stay. Alberta was so kind on flexibility of drop off and pick up. She took great care of our Guinea pig and has a wonderful set up for small animals. Thank you so much Alberta!
