Pet care experience
NOTICES -Booking dates that include any dates between April 18-25 will be charged holiday rates for Easter and Spring Break for the entire duration of the booking, just as Rover does for federal holidays. - I provide visits and walks between 7am-7pm and will rarely accept bookings outside these hours. There will be an additional surcharge depending on how far outside these hours your request is. -for apartment complexes with a gate, I start the timer once I reach the gate, so be sure gate codes are correct or you're ready to buzz me in when I arrive! -For last minute bookings that can't accommodate a meet and greet, there may be an additional charge depending on how short notice the booking is. -I do not accept bookings where other people will be in the house during the booking, it is a big liability for me. Exceptions are made with housekeepers, etc. - Please ensure your pet is up-to-date on vaccines and flea prevention. - I serve areas within 8 miles of driving distance of the Hi Nabor grocery store on Florida Ave. Visits outside this range may incur a travel fee, depending on how far outside the radius you are. - For extended absences, I can water plants, feed fish, and bring in mail at no extra cost. - I do not use aversive training equipment like shock collars, prong collars, or choke chains for walks. If you only have these, I carry various harnesses, including escape-proof ones, in my car. I also will not use retractable leashes, as they are too dangerous. I prefer using my own gear as I'm more familiar with it and it helps prevent me being pulled down. I usually use an adjustable 6ft-10ft joring leash. Ideally, your dog should already be somewhat leash trained. I grew up on a Montana ranch, surrounded by Australian shepherds, chickens, cats, and more. A professional dog trainer since 2016, I've worked with various breeds, ages, sizes, and temperaments in both behavioral and medical settings. I'm experienced with nervous, reactive, and fearful animals, and use only force-free, positive reinforcement methods. I never hit, yell at, or get frustrated with pets. My goal is to improve the bond between people and their dogs. Although I typically don't offer training on Rover, I occasionally make exceptions. Please inquire for pricing and availability. I grew up with many cats and understand their body language and behaviors, which differ from dogs. I use feline-oriented positive reinforcement techniques. My own cats can sit, lie down, spin, high five, and come when called! I have two years of experience as a vet tech, with a special interest in nutrition, behavior modification, and orthopedic medicine. While I can't give medical advice, I can advise when to involve a vet and what to potentially expect. I'm certified in pet CPR and first aid by the American Red Cross, which no longer offers the program, but I am still capable of performing CPR or first aid if needed. In addition to dogs and cats, I have extensive experience with fish. I've kept fish since 2017 and worked at a fish store for three years, maintaining tanks from 0.5 gallons, to 650 gallons, both freshwater and saltwater. I enjoy growing plants and keeping nano critters like shrimp, snails, crabs, and amphipods. I currently work at a fish store and have 14 tanks at home (that aren't empty!). I charge $10 per visit to feed a tank and $1 per gallon for water changes, using my own maintenance kit, up to 20 gallons. Larger or complex tanks may cost more; please inquire for pricing. I also have some experience with birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, and more. While less experienced with these, I'm open to caring for them and being educated. Most exotic pets cost $10-$25 per visit, depending on their care requirements and how many there are. Please inquire for pricing. Before leaving each visit, I ensure pets have food, water, and bathroom breaks, and that they have been physically exercised and mentally stimulated, so that they're relaxed and tired once I leave. As a worrier, I always double and triple-check kennel latches and door locks before I go!

Reviews

Adeline is incredible! This is my second time booking with her and her attention to detail with my boy, Mister Bales, is much appreciated. She gives detailed report cards and truly cares about my dog’s well being. Could not recommend her enough

Adeline communicated well and left detailed notes on how my dog did during their visit.

Adeline snaps the best pictures of my cat. As someone with anxiety, I often worry about leaving my cat on trips, but I feel so much better knowing Adeline will check in on my baby. I can also see an improvement in my cat's mood when Adeline visits, my being on a trip is less stressful for her, and she comes out and visits with Adeline, when she usually hides from strangers. Adeline just has a good energy about her, both me and my cat appreciate.

We have used Addie several times and my dogs love her. I never worry about them in her care. She makes sure they eat and do their business outside or gives them playtime inside if the weather is bad. She lets you know if they’re having a good or bad day and we trust her 100% with their care! She’s the best!

While in my client's home, I make sure basic necessities are taken care of first, like food, water, and bathroom needs. Afterwards, it's play time or time for a walk! Once we're done, one more bathroom break if needed.
Information Adeline J. would like to know about your pet
Please inform me of your dog's behaviors during walks, such as eating things off the ground, or reactions to people, animals, cars, and loud noises, so I can be prepared to manage the behaviors safely. Let me know your training preferences and commands so I can help maintain consistency. I do not use aversive equipment like shock collars, prong collars, or choke chains. If your dog requires these tools and alternatives cannot be used, please find another sitter for their care.
A typical day
I enjoy taking dogs on neighborhood walks, playing fetch with a 100ft leash if there's no fenced yard, and teaching tricks. I always bring extra treats, novel toys, and some puzzle games for mental stimulation. For safety on walks, I use two leashes, bring an extra slip lead, use safety clips and safety leashes to create extra attachment points in case of equipment failure, and I carry tools like an umbrella, boat horn, and pepper spray gel to deter loose or aggressive animals. I stay vigilant and watchful of the environment and do not use my phone except to take pictures. No pets have been injured on my watch since I started in 2016!

I work at a fish store during the day, so I usually do visits in the morning and evening, but I have a very flexible schedule and a very understanding boss if afternoon visits are needed.
