“My dog Bella has been cared for by Andrew twice now, and both times she’s been absolutely happy and well taken care of. The second time we went my dog got excited as we pulled up to the house, remembering what a good time she had during her last visit. Highly recommended!”
“Bethany and her family are wonderful! My dog spent a week with them and I could relax on my vacation knowing she was in the best care. Their big fenced in backyard is an added bonus. I would definitely recommend!”
“This was our first time leaving Pax with Brittany and it was a great match. Pax was well cared for by Brittany and her family. The process was seamless and Brittany sent the most adorable photo/video updates. She really gave me peace of mind while being out of the country. I will definitely work with Brittany again.”
“So happy to have found Tina so our pup could be in a loving home with other dogs to play with while we were away. Tina provided exceptional care and kept us updated with messages and pictures of our pup with his new friends. We are already planning a future stay.”
“So glad that I found Angela! Leonard, my dachshund, had a ball. We are working to socialize him, and Angela provided him with opportunities to walk and play with a friend. Leonard has separation anxiety, and I am just starting to leave him with sitters. Angela is great. On pickup, I think Leonard was hoping that I was there to stay and join the fun!”
“This stay for Lily was great and Cindy and her family are great and our dog loves being with them. We will definitely have Lily stay there again.”
“Ashle was very kind and definitely loves furry friends! Our dog had a great time, feeling comfortable right away at her house. I'd be sure to think of her the next time when we need care for our dog. Thank you, Ashle!”
“Archie had an absolute blast staying with John and Shannon. They were great with him and sent tons of pics and videos to update us. Archie got home and slept for hours after all the exercise he got. Definitely will rebook with them.”
“Kristol was very sweet and accommodating! Had a great backyard for Kobe to run around in and an equally energetic pint sized friend for him to play with! I received photos and updates regularly. Thank you so much for caring for my little guy over the weekend!”
“Carly was amazing with our pup, Sunny! She was attentive, kind, supportive and flexible to fit her needs, and she sent us lots of updates which we loved. I would highly recommend Carly!!”
“Amy and her family are amazing with our boy kitty Jade. He was recently diagnosed with a stress disorder but with her updates we knew he was as happy and relaxed as could be. He’s so loved and well cared for by them that we know he’s in the safest hands he could be while we’re away. ❤️”
“We’ve had our dog stay with Kelsey before and he always enjoys his stay! Kelsey’s great with sending us videos and updates, and is always responsive. We will definitely continue to send our dog to stay with her when we need the help.”
“Rayann watched my puppy for almost a week. She sent daily updates and pictures on how he was doing. She was a great communicator and took great care of Mav. He had a blast playing with her and her family. I will definitely use her whenever I go out of town next.”
“I can't say enough wonderful things about Fernanda & Bruno. They kept us updated with text and pictures throughout our puppy's stay with them. I highly recommend and trust them to take care of our fur baby and will definitely request their services when I need a pet sitter. Thank you Fernanda and Bruno for giving our baby so much love and attention.”
“Erica was a great sitter for our little one. Easy to talk to and plan things with. Sent pictures and videos of our dog to us everyday. Our dog is a cuddler at night and she went out of her way to make sure our dog was cuddled right next to her or her husband while they slept. Would recommend!”
“Kassi was hands down the BEST person to leave my dog with. My family and I went out of town for 5 days. She was responsive, sent pictures and videos, and made she our furry girl had so much fun. Her big fenced back yard I'm sure is one dogs dream of. You will not go wrong by choosing Kassi to watch your furry child.”
“Amazing Care for My Pup! 🐾 We really appreciated the care and patience that Maia provided to Remy who still very much has puppy energy but is already almost full size. Maia provided outstanding care for my dog while I was away. From the moment we met, it was clear how much she genuinely loves and cares about her own dog, Kermit so I was very comfortable leaving Remy in her care. If Maia would be willing to take Remy again, I absolutely would book with her again. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for top-notch pet care! 🐶💕”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Mechanicsburg home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Mechanicsburg.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Mechanicsburg sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OH ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
