Savannah was very attentive to our precious Stella. Stella has daily meds and Savannah made sure those were done on time daily. She took Stella out for sunshine and was wonderful at allowing Stella to stay in her own environment while we were away on a much needed vacation. I would highly recommend her for pet needs and we will for sure use her again if the need for a pet sitter arises.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST! That is where I start. We had to book him in a pinch and we were able to get a meet and greet in with Khalil and our 3(65# plus) dogs. The meet and greet went great and he showed up on time 3 days later. We received photos every single day. He stayed in our home and was able to keep them entertained while there. The photos we received they were always looking happy. We were gone for 10 days and when we came back it was like we had just left with the house being clean. Khalil stayed in our guest room. We didn't ask him to but he took the sheets off of the bed and put them in the laundry room. The dishes he had used were put in the dishwasher. Main thing was to take care of our dogs and he went above and beyond on that! We will absolutely recommend Khalil to anyone and everyone looking for short and long term stays. Khalil was very responsive. We will be going back to him when we have to be out of town again. Khalil made it so easy to trust that they would be in good hands and taken care of the entire time. I could go on and on. An overall phenomenal experience.

Brooke was incredible! She was warm and welcoming. She was also knowledgeable about senior pups and their “stranger danger” mentality. Brooke sent daily updates and pictures to ensure all was well. I look forward to working with her again in the future.

About: Hi! We have over 9 years of pet sitting and taking care of pet experience! I used to work in a dog shelter where there was a quick need for dogs in quick care and for fun playtimes! My husband and I take care of dogs together it helps me especially if the dog is very big and tuff! We are very organized and we are quick to get tasks done. Rey is also bilingual in Spanish and English just in case so there’s no language barrier We also have 2 sweet dogs of our own. We genuinely love dogs and we just love to see them happy it doesn’t take them much to please them and to make their day which we truly have the experience and capability to be able to do that for your dog :) Rey works a part time as a paralegal. She spaces out hours for pet care so she can be able to give any potential furry friend the care that is needed! :) We live in a home with a large, fully fenced backyard where dogs have plenty of safe space to play, explore, and get exercise. We are in a quiet, pet-friendly neighborhood and make sure every dog in our care receives lots of love, attention, and supervision. We understand life can get busy or unexpected plans can come up, so we are happy to accommodate same-day bookings when available to help provide reliable care when you need it most. Whether your pet enjoys relaxing, playing outside, or staying active, we strive to make them feel comfortable, safe, and right at home. We treat every pet like family and always prioritize their safety, happiness, and routine.

About: I personally have 3 dogs, 1 husky, 1 pittbull, and 1 chihuahua. I have had dogs growing up and have often dog sat for family and friends. I am a responsible 18 year old who just graduated from early college and am looking for jobs to keep me busy this summer. I am currently also working part-time so if I am given enough notice I work around my schedule to pet or house sit any day and time. When caring for clients animals I tend to give them a lot of attention and follow any rules given regarding feeding and/or house rules. When house sitting I tend to not mess with owners things and just keep to one space.

About: Since childhood I've had animals. I profoundly love dogs and cats. I have volunteered at rescues and shelters in the past. I currently work for a local veterinary clinic. I'm committed to providing safe, excellent care for your furbabies! I currently have a full time job at a local veterinary clinic, however, I have flexibility in my schedule and don't work weekends. I babysit all critters, not just dogs and cats. I have babysat dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, fish, plants, rats, & even a jumping spider! I firmly believe I was put on this earth to show love and kindness to the ones that can't speak for themselves. I look forward to meeting you and your critters. About: My parents realized I needed a dog in my life when I was child because I would try to pet my fish... ;) As a family we've had dogs since I was around 6 years old. I began dog-sitting for a neighbor when I was in middle school and that included helping care for two puppies when I was a bit older. Over the last few years my petsitting/housesitting relationships have steadily increased. I've helped friends by caring for their puppies, dogs, senior dogs, kittens, cats, and even a bird! Before I moved to NC I had keys for about 5 friends' homes since I am on standby for pet-sitting duties when they go out of town. My boyfriend and I are the proud parents of 1 dog, 2 cats, and 21 quail chicks! I am currently working 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday in Holly Springs but hope my schedule works to care for your fur babies! I am typically very flexible during weekends. As someone who had an escape artist dog growing up I know the importance of safety, including keeping doors closed. I'm familiar with many different types of leashes, halters, Gentle Leader, even muzzles and am confident in using any your dog may utilize. I am also happy to crate your puppy/dog if needed.

About: Growing up I lived on a livestock farm so my life for animals came natural and at a very early age. I previously worked as a Vet Tech and still currently volunteer for a local rescue, which is how I got 2 of my babies! I would love to keep your loved companions safe and comfortable while you relax on vacation or take care of business for work. I have a completely open schedule at the moment. I can do potty breaks /walks or over night stays for as long as is needed. I have a fenced in yard in a quite neighborhood. Plenty of toys and blankets for everyone and only the best quality dog food and treats. I also have two very friendly dogs of my own but could keep separate if you prefered. I have no limits for space in my house so furniture and such is fair game. I just want them to be comfortable and feel safe.

I'm not even sure where to begin! Savannah has been an absolute Godsend! It began wih me needing help for my girl Piper who is a 14y/o Boston Terrier. I have been working long hours and she can't possibly hold her water for that long anymore, which left me with a mess to clean up when I got home. So through Rover, I found this angel who has helped me tremendously and has been able to help me even when it has been a last minute notice. I am very impressed with her promtness, politeness, and her love for animals. She made things even easier on both Piper and my cat Sage by staying in my home for 10 days while I was away on my last vacation. I would recommend her for anyone that needs help with their fur babies. I am a little selfish in the fact that I didn't want to write this post because I don't want to share her... lol. But I feel anyone needing help with taking care of their babies deserves the opportunity to have Savannah as their choice! Thank you again Savannah for the love and kindness you showed to Piper and Sage! YOU ROCK - Rufus

FAQs for House Sitting - Lumberton

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Lumberton on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 287 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lumberton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lumberton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lumberton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lumberton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lumberton. On Rover:

  • 86% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
