“Taylynn was excellent! She had great communication, very obviously cares about doing a good job, showed up on time and was very pleasant during all our interactions. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a pet sitter.”

“Erika was fantastic! She was very good to our older pup, keeping him very active and engaged, and sent lots of picture and video updates. There was a misunderstanding in the beginning about the timing of his morning walks, but after clarification, she walked him at the normal time the rest of her stay, and there was really good communication going forward. All the rest of his schedule and routine was followed to the letter the entire time. She also kindly fed our fish, and the house was exceptionally clean and tidy after she left. There was a delay in our flights coming home, and she was super flexible and stayed a few extra hours late in the evening to make sure our pup was ok, and then let him out before she left for the night. We would gladly have her take care of our pup again!”

About: I've had dogs since I can remember. My fiancé watched dogs in the past with rover and I would always help. Take the dogs to the park on my days off, play outside, and train them when needed. I am currently on veterans disability so I can focus my whole day to your furry friend. No worry about being stuck in all day. I have 5 acres of yard for them to play on. “Ada house sat my dog who was both diabetic and recovering from bronchitis which required shots and other medications twice a day. She not only cared for MMO’s medical needs but provided emotional support for him in my absence. She sent pictures and conducted a River video chat with me to ensure not only Momo’s emotional support but for mine as well. I felt confident my beloved pet was in good hands.”

“Jacqueline was AMAZING!!! She was so sweet and kind when we met and my dogs loved her! This was the first time I have allowed anyone to stay in my home while in vacation and I didn’t have a worry in the world. My house was just like I left it, clean and orderly! I highly recommend Jacqueline and Rover to take care of my dogs!!! Thank you Jacqueline!! ❤️”

“Helena was absolutely AMAZING!!! This was our first time using Rover and the first time we left our dog overnight. She sent us pictures and updates throughout the time we were gone, showing just how relaxed and happy our dog was in her care. When he whined about sleeping in his crate, she kindly let him share the bed with her (with our approval, of course!). He even seemed disappointed when we came home 😉. We cannot recommend Helena more highly!!”

About: Growing up my family always had at least one or more pets of various breeds so I have 20+ years of experience around animals. I have cared for dogs, cats, fish, lizards, rabbits, goats, and hedgehogs. Personally, my husband & I have 2 dogs currently, 9 & 10 years old, one having epilepsy & is dependent on medication. I have helped raise/care for/train puppies, kittens, baby rabbits, & baby goats. The only pet I'm not comfortable with is snakes, my little sister has one but I only look at it from 3ft away in its enclosure, haha. I work part time Tu/W/Th 8A - 5P, I do not mind caring for pets those days, however I will be gone all day. Otherwise, I'm available for your pets needs! My personal routine with my pets: My husband helps me care for our pets daily but his schedule is a bit different than mine, so our dogs are let out at least within 4-6 hours those days. Otherwise, we let them out every 2-4 depending on their needs (which they have been trained to lets us know if they need to go sooner). Our medical dog is on a 12 hr medication schedule. I'd prefer to care in my clients home due to one of my dogs having a reactive past, it was quite a transition when we inherited our other dog. If you have a specific routine, I'm ready to follow it to the T! I'm comfortable walking dogs on leash, hanging out/playing with them in a fenced yard, or just chilling inside. As mentioned, I have experience with medically dependent pets. I have an escape artist, so I'm always vigilant of their proximity to me and prepared to run/chase in the event something happens. I can stay at the home with the pets or I can visit throughout the day!
“Riley took excellent care of my 3 senior dogs, all 3 on meds, including 1 that is diabetic and needed blood glucose monitoring and insulin shots. I was thrilled to find someone with experience with diabetes. Thanks Riley!”
About: Friendly sitter with experience with senior pups, cats and chickens. I currently have two wonderful dogs and a handful of chickens. One of our dogs is what we believe is a Foxhound and the other is a Shepherd mix. Both are rescues so we are not sure. I also have experience with cats, parrots (green crowned conure) and various farm animals. Update: I no longer work from home. I am now in Richmond M-F, 8-5. I am happy to stop by during my lunch break to check on your babies in the city. Any other surrounding areas would have to be weekends and not during work hours. Apologies for any inconvenience! I am happy to stop by your home and care for your pets. One of my pups is reactive and we do not want to make her (or your baby) uncomfortable by bringing other pets into our space.

About: Hi! My husband and I own a farm in Amelia, VA with horses, sheep, chickens, and our cats and dogs. I have two rescue dogs of my own and am a complete animal lover. I work in the agriculture sector with a flexible schedule and my husband works from home full time. My schedule allows me to be home with your pets as often as they need. I have been house sitting for over 15 years and absolutely love being able to love other people’s pets like my own! My house also has a fenced in yard, and is great if your pets want to come stay with me as well. I have experience with dogs, cats, most exotic pets, horses, and any barnyard animal you could think of. We are also very experienced in senior care, and often foster for our local shelter so are used to a lot of different behaviors and dog personalities. I am available for pet sitting and farm sitting. I am looking forward to hearing from you! I have a flexible work schedule and my office is less than a mile from my home, so I can stop in often. My husband is also very experienced in animal care and works from home full time. Our dogs spend most of their day snoozing with my husband while he works. They go on 3-4 walks per day and have a fenced yard to run around. Guest dogs are treated like our own! Drop in clients can expect their dogs to be loved on and cared for as desired for 30-60 minutes per drop in.

About: I’ve always had and taken care of dogs growing up! My pups were a core part of my childhood and still hold most of my heart. Aside from basic dog care I also have experience with puppies and timid dogs as my family fosters. I would love to help care for your dog! I’m a college student home for the summer. I have a summer job during the week but am looking to fill my weekends with pet sitting. I’m happy to stay in home overnight or stop by for potty breaks! At home I like to keep my pets on a routine and will do the same for your pet or adapt to the best schedule for them.

FAQs for House Sitting - Lodore
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,178 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lodore. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lodore walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lodore maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lodore choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lodore. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
