“Amanda and her husband were absolutely wonderful! They were both so kind and welcoming, and we felt completely comfortable leaving Charlie in their care. It was clear he was well taken care of and had such a great time with them. He was so happy when we picked him up! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely trust them with Charlie again. Highly recommend!!”

“This was my first time using Rover, although many friends us it or are hosts, and this was all new to my corgi, Paisley. We did a pre-visit to make sure she would fit in with Wendy’s two small dogs and her cat, which was great. She was a little overwhelmed and anxious for the first couple of days without me being there, with 2 more dogs boarding too but Wendy handled it well (lots of communication between us, crating for some downtime) and Paisley settled in.”

“Ronda was wonderful with our dog, Louise. We had never left her with anyone before this 3 day getaway. Ronda knew that we had concerns and she regularly sent us pictures and updates, which eased our minds, as we could see that our dog was getting plenty of love and attention, and had settled in for her stay. Louise appreciates attention and the feel of a warm home environment, which is just what Ronda gave her. We have already recommended Ronda to a relative who is looking for an in home boarding situation. Ronda is the best!”

About: I have always had pets . I grew up helping my mother groom and take care of dogs. I would do anything for an animal. I am available all 24/7 everyday. I am willing to work any day of the week. I am availability because this is my only job, and I am passionate. I have been lucky enough to be raised with dogs my entire life. My family were breeders for standard poodles at one point, which was amazing to watch and learn about. I am no stranger to special needs, administering meds, able to provide short term care until help arrives. I love all dog breeds equally and will treat your dog like my own. This is my passion. I have 2 guest rooms that can be turned into private doggo apartments. If your pets need exercise I can provide. If they need relaxation, I love cuddles on the couch. We have crates of all sizes, beds for any size dog, dog gates for stairs, enough rooms to spread out and separate if needed, and live minutes away from a fenced in dog park. We live 3 minutes from 2 vet clinics and we use them for our own dogs. We have security cameras in the house with 2 way speakers if we need to step out for any reason. Please let us know about your dogs temperament with other dogs ahead of time. If your dog has special needs or quirks around certain people. We are happy to share our dogs food but would prefer food is delivered with the dog for stays. We are used to dogs that have a tendency to run if given the chance but appreciate heads up so we can be extra attentive.

About: I’ve had a fur companion all of my life! I’ve successfully raised and trained five dogs from puppies and I have experience with rescue pups who may not feel entirely comfortable in their new environment. I’ve experienced small and large breeds alike, with my current pup being a King Cavalier Spaniel. Goose’s cousins who we see weekly are two Golden retrievers and one rescue mix. I’m able to be flexible or rigid when it comes to your pets schedule, and am knowledgeable in special diets, fresh pet food, administering meds if needed. I have the luxury of working from home and creating my own schedule which makes my days very flexible! I currently can accept pets for boarding, play dates or walks Sunday through Thursday, 9:30am to 10pm. My dog is allowed to be on all furniture and sleep in the bed and your pet would be permitted to as well if that is your preference! Goose and I take several walks a day and love to take day trips to various area dog parks and hiking trails or enjoy a lazy afternoon on the couch.

About: What sets me apart is the love and attention I give to every pet I care for. I treat every animal like they are my own and take the time to learn their personality, routines, and individual needs. I’m patient, responsible, and always want pets to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I also understand how important it is to have someone you can trust with your pets, so I make communication and updates a priority. My goal is for both you and your pet to feel comfortable and confident in my care. I’m currently a ysu student commuting from home in the Austintown area. I work in home health care 2-4 times a week. I have lots of free time to care for your pets! I care for every pet as if they were my own. In a client’s home, I follow their normal routine and any specific instructions they provide for feeding, medications, walks, playtime, and bedtime. I make sure they have fresh food and water, plenty of attention, and a clean and comfortable space. I also give pets the time they need to feel comfortable with me and always respect their personality and boundaries. I’ll keep you updated with pictures and messages so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs, cats, and other animals (snakes, bearded dragons, hamsters, tarantulas) for about 18 years. I’ve always had pets and friends and family have relied on me to take care of their pets when they were away. I’ve owned cats with kidney disease and my dog has an autoimmune disease, so I have experience with taking care of sick animals. I’m able to administer oral medications, ear and eye drops/cleaning, subcutaneous fluids. I’m a registered nurse currently working part time night shift at the hospital, but I make time to care for my own dog and cat. On my days off, I have plenty of time to care for other animals! I can only do drop-in visits, walks, or doggy day care/boarding at my home as I can’t stay nights away from my own animals. I would always want to do meet and greets first to make sure my animals get along with clients, but I can accommodate separating them in my house between the upstairs and finished basement.

About: I’ve always loved animals and understand that every pet has their own personality and routine. I’m patient, reliable, and committed to making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. Whether it’s walks, feeding, playtime, administering basic care, or simply providing companionship, I’ll treat your pet like they’re my own. I pay close attention to instructions, communicate regularly with updates and photos, and make sure every pet receives the care and attention they deserve. I work entirely from home, which gives me a highly flexible schedule to dedicate to pet care. I can easily accommodate potty breaks, mid-day walks, and constant companionship throughout the week. My weekends are completely open for extended playtime, boarding, or overnight house sitting. When watching pets in your home, safety and respect for your space are my top priorities. I stick strictly to your established routines, double-check that all doors and gates are secure before and after walks, and keep in constant contact with daily photo updates to give you complete peace of mind. My home is a cozy, pet-friendly space where your dog's safety is my number one priority. While I do not have a fenced yard, I always keep dogs securely leashed during all outdoor bathroom breaks and walks. I strictly follow your feeding routines and provide constant supervision to keep them safe and happy.

About: Hi! I’m Maria, and caring for animals isn’t just something I do, it’s something I’ve dedicated years of my life to. I have over 10 years of hands on experience working with dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and personalities. From energetic puppies to senior dogs who need a slower pace, I understand that every pet deserves care that’s tailored specifically to them. My partner and I work together as a team, which means your pets receive twice the attention, care, and reliability. Having two experienced animal lovers allows us to be flexible with scheduling and provide consistent, dependable care for your pets, whether you’re away for the day or an extended vacation. I offer: • Dog Walking • Drop-In Visits • House Sitting • Overnight Boarding • Puppy Care • Senior Dog Care • Medication Administration (if needed) • Lots of playtime, cuddles, enrichment, and exercise! I’ve cared for everything from tiny toy breeds to giant breeds, including dogs with anxiety, high energy, special routines, and unique personalities. I also have experience with cats and other household pets, so if your family includes more than just dogs, they’re in great hands too. When your pet stays with us or we care for them in your home, they’re treated like family. We stick to their normal routine as closely as possible because we know consistency helps pets feel safe and comfortable. Whether that means long walks, endless games of fetch, quiet cuddle time, or simply keeping them company, we adjust our care to what makes your pet happiest. As pet owners ourselves, we understand how difficult it can be to trust someone with a member of your family. That’s why communication is one of our top priorities. You’ll receive regular updates, photos, and messages so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is happy, loved, and well cared for. Our goal isn’t just to watch your pet. We want to become someone both you and your furry family member can trust for years to come. We’d love the opportunity to meet you and provide the same love, patience, and attention we give our own pets every single day. We can’t wait to meet your best friend! 🐾 One of us works full time, however the other stays at home and focuses on animals and etc. We’re always able to be flexible and accommodate everyone’s needs We always make sure to meet prior to bookings and if needed or wanted to I do like to send pictures and videos of your fur babies while in my care. FAQs for Dog Boarding - Lockwood

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of November 2026, there are 250 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Lockwood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

96% of sitters in Lockwood can provide daily exercise during dog boarding stays. Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, this may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Lockwood home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Lockwood.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lockwood. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

You and your Lockwood sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in OH ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Adding another pup to the pack? Most sitters and walkers offer a reduced rate for additional dogs. You’ll find these exact rates listed under the "Services" tab on any sitter's profile. Since every dog is unique, final pricing may vary depending on the level of care required.
