“Jessica was great! Very communicative and knowledgable about dogs, especially doodles! We got daily pictures of Murph. It was a hot weekend so Jessica was kind enough to get up early and get Murph out and walk before it got too hot.”

“Elisha did a wonderful job watching my shy pup and two kitties while we were gone for an evening. Although my dog is rather nervous around strangers, my pup ended up sleeping with Elisha during a storm. It gave me great comfort to know my animals were being looked after during the storm and while we were away. Looking forward to having her watch my pets again next week!! Thanks for everything, Elisha!”

“Jared looked after my dog Felix in my house for 2 nights. He took great care of everything and made sure I felt at ease. I found a happy and relaxed pup upon my return; Felix looked like he had a good time with Jared. I'm glad I found him and will hopefully get a chance to hire him again in the future.”

“Emily was so great with our senior dog Willow! She house sat her for the weekend and did a fantastic job. She communicated clearly about everything, sent photos, and most importantly was able to give Willow the twice daily insulin shots she needs. I highly recommend working with Emily!”
“Emily is AMAZING and did a fabulous job house + pup sitting while we were out of town. Her warm and caring manner instantly won our pups over and they had a wonderful weekend together. Emily’s proactive communications both before and during her stay here were very reassuring and appreciated. Can’t say enough great things and hope to use Emily many times in the future!!”

She has experience with many types of dogs such as Australian Sheppards, Labradors, Huskies, mixed breeds, Pitt bulls, Shih Tzus, etc. Ari has some experience with grooming, puppy training, bathing, nail clipping, and even administering oral medication. She has LOTS of experience playing with dogs so she will have ways to keep your pups engaged and happy! She has senior dog care experience as two of her dogs are seniors (over 11 years old). She has helped some of her clients care for their dogs through cancer and neurological issues/bells palsey. In addition to dog care, Ariana also has extensive experience with cats, horses, bunnies, and miniature donkeys; and some experience with pet cows, pet sheep, chickens, ducks, and fish. She offers Myofascial Release for dogs, cats, and horses as well, although it is charged separately and is dependent upon the pets consent. I am currently working three jobs. One is Tuesday and Saturday or Sunday caring for 8 equids, hours vary. The second is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, usually from 12 to 3 ,although sometimes it is longer, watching 2 Australian Shepherds. I also house/dog sit for them. The third job is taking care of 2 horses in the evenings monday, wednesday and thursday for a few hours. I have availability before, after and inbetween my three day a week jobs, sometimes before or after my tuesday and saturday job, and occasionally on Friday and Sunday. I am able to offer flexible (for example: occasionally house sitting, drop in visits, or walking) for you and your pets! I am willing to accept stays longer than one week depending on the circumstances and other than the midday dog sitting my schedule is flexible especially in the evenings. I do not currently offer services from my home, but I am more than happy to provide on-site services at your home. I have a decent amount of experience providing care for people’s dogs, cats, and other animals within their homes.
About: For the first time in 10 years I do not have a dog of my own, so I'd love to help take care of others! I am currently working full time but I am able to go home daily on my lunch breaks to take care of your loved one! My home becomes your pet's home! I view pets as children. I will enforce and backup your rules/training, but other than that, they are more than welcome to make themselves at home!
About: Hi! My name is Andrea. I have lived in the Hudson Valley for almost 4 years now, and have been working in the area off and on since 2014. I live with my partner, Mike, and precious pup Kona. I have always lived with dogs. And recently, have been thinking about getting a cat! I am an Occupational Therapist in a school district full time and love to farm and bicycle during my off time. I’ve done house sitting and dog sitting previously and enjoyed the work. I have my own vehicle and am used to commuting around the Hudson Valley for work and for fun. I wanted to get back into dog sitting and pet sitting to assist in getting a new car and to get to spend time with pets! I have always been obsessed with dogs! I show that through meeting as many as I can when out in the community :). I am active person, so long walks and playing is something I can provide. I am open to any requests you might have and am great at keeping in touch with pet parents. I can always be available through text, call, or email. I’m so excited to meet you and your lovely pets!! I have a full time job, so weekends are my only availability. However, I am open to discuss any special circumstances! I might potentially be more available on a long weekend, when I am off from my school based job. I would want to care for your pets as you would or how you would want. I am great with a schedule and specific requests.
“Rochelle is a wonderful sitter and I'm so grateful to have found her to watch my dog Gogo. I've hired Rochelle for both short and long-term stays and she is my most entrusted sitter. Dedicated, responsible, caring, and experienced.”

“Sophie cared for our very active Australian Shepherd puppy, cat, and our home with love, skill, and the highest level of professionalism. She was very responsive and eased my anxiety over leaving my boys with pictures and prompt communication. I trust her completely.”

“Lilly arrived on time, is very professional and took exceptional care of our dog. It is such a relief ro know that we have someone like her in our area and will definitely hire her again in the future!”

“Rose was an absolute dream of a sitter. They made sure we got pictures of the boys, left our house probably cleaner than my husband and I left it and was more than willing to meet with us on two separate occasions before our boarding sesh to help acclimate our more skittish doggo son. By mid-weekend, both dogs were fans of Rose and honestly, so am I. 10/10 would recommend.”

“Shelby watched our very social cat over a long weekend -- we were delighted to return home to a happy cat & well kept apartment. She's so genuinely kind, reliable, and easy to communicate with. We wouldn't hesitate to ask Shelby to cat/house sit for us any time.”

“We are so thrilled to be working with Lisa — our dog Grace immediately loved her, and she is so happy and tired after their time together. Lisa is super communicative and made us feel so comfortable from the first time we met her.”

“Cassie was wonderful and took great care of Poppy while we were out of town for an extra long weekend! She was very communicative and sent pictures and videos of Poppy. Even though the heat had Poppy a little out of sorts, they had a great time together and we came home to a happy dog. Highly recommend Cassie and can’t wait to book her again!”

“Sofia was wonderful! She was always responsive, and took such wonderful care of the dogs. They loved her and were in great hands. She left the house in great shape and was a super respectful guest. Would highly recommend using Sofia!”

“We had such a wonderful experience with Katherine caring for our two cats. From the very beginning, she was incredibly communicative, thoughtful, and reliable. She kept us updated consistently with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It’s clear she’s both experienced and genuinely caring - our cats felt comfortable with her right away. She was attentive to their routines and gave them lots of playtime and love. We came home to two very happy, relaxed cats and a house that was just as we left it. We felt confident the entire time that they were in safe, capable hands. We wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a great sitter!”

About: I absolutely love taking care of and being around animals. I am kind, reliable and very loving, with years of experience with both cats & dogs. I currently work part-time very close to my home and have reliable transportation. This means I typically have plenty of time to cater to your pets daily needs. Some days I would be able to be with them all day, whereas other days I can do morning, nights, or middle-of-the-day check-ins. I typically do not care for client's pets in my own home because of my two cats. I am happy to travel to any client home to take care of their pet however that may be needed: play, walks, parks, etc.
“Kacey was great with our fur babies! A senior pug and scaredy-cat kitty. She was very attentive and sent lots of updates and pics! She’s also a super nice person and you can tell she really cares about what she does! Highly recommended!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Linlithgo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Linlithgo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Linlithgo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Linlithgo. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
