“Lissette provided both dogsitting and housesitting services for us. She was very caring and affectionate with our two small dogs. One of our dogs, from a rescue, is very suspicious of newcomers, but she became comfortable with Lissette quickly. While we were away, Lissette provided frequent updates, including many photos and videos. We would not hesitate to ask Lissette to take care of house and of our pups again -- the pups would probably be very happy to see her, their new friend.”

About: I have so much love for all animals, and my passion is to give them the same love they give us every day! Unconditional. Their happiness is my happiness, and therefore yours! I work part time as a nanny/personal assistant and I have all my weekends free! I will mostly be available on weekends and afternoons during the week. I can crate your dog if needed, or take your dog on a walk, feed them, play with them, let them out to potty, or simply give them lots of affection, and snuggles! I will let your cat in or out depending of what you need, and clean their litter box etc...snuggles included!
“Danielle did an AMAZING job taking care of our kitties. One of them needs a lot of medication but that didn’t seem to phase her. They were well taken care of, got very comfortable with her in a short period of time, and we got a lot of adorable pictures. We will definitely be hiring her again.”

About: I’ve been a lifelong pet owner and have spent the past 12+ years volunteering with a local rescue that specializes in special-needs animals. Over the years, I’ve fostered dozens of dogs with a wide range of needs, helping them learn basic obedience, house manners, and successful housebreaking skills while preparing them for their forever homes. I currently share my home with a special-needs Great Dane, a Labradoodle, and an elderly cat. My Labradoodle is a trained therapy dog, and together we participate in visits to schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and other community settings. Through my own pets and foster animals, I have extensive experience caring for senior dogs, dogs with mobility challenges, dogs requiring medications, and pets needing extra patience and attention. I regularly provide pet care for friends, family, and neighbors through home visits and in-home boarding. I understand that every pet has a unique personality and routine, and I strive to provide the same love, structure, and care that they receive at home. Whether your pet is young and energetic, elderly, special-needs, or simply needs a little extra attention, I will care for them as if they were my own. Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine. My children are grown, and I have the flexibility to devote plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. Our own pets are an important part of our family, and caring for them is already a central part of my daily life. I enjoy playing pickleball and going to the gym, but otherwise I spend much of my time at home. This allows me to provide frequent potty breaks, exercise, companionship, and lots of attention for visiting pets. Whether your pet enjoys walks, playtime, cuddles on the couch, or simply a consistent routine, I have the time and flexibility to help them feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you’re away. Safety and comfort are my top priorities when caring for your pets. My home has a securely fenced yard and a doggie door, allowing dogs safe access to outdoor time while remaining supervised. I also have multiple crates and the ability to separate pets when needed. With years of fostering and caring for special-needs, senior, and rescue animals, I understand that every pet has different needs, personalities, and comfort levels. I am experienced in managing introductions, creating separate spaces, and maintaining routines that help pets feel secure and stress-free. When providing care in your home, I treat your home with the same respect I would my own. I am happy to bring in mail and newspapers, water plants, clean litter boxes, and help maintain your pet’s normal routine. I can also transport pets to veterinary appointments if needed. My goal is to provide dependable, loving care so you can travel with confidence, knowing your pets and home are in good hands.
About: I have been a dog owner since as far back as I can remember. I have owned and cared for multiple breeds including chihuahuas, huskies, and pitbulls. I currently have two rescue dogs - a Rottweiler/Blue Heeler mix, and a cute mutt that we found hiding on the street at only 4 weeks old. They are both 7 years old, and my best pals. I currently own two large dogs that I feed and walk twice a day. On weekends, we try to get out to the park or hiking to give them some fresh air and exercise. Although I work full time, my job is very flexible so I am able to make the time necessary to care for your pets! I have a fenced in yard and two friendly dogs who love to play, if you ever need them to have a break from being confined in your home. I am also happy to play fetch or tug of war, give lots of treats, and share lots of pictures so you'll never be missing their cute face!
“From the moment Harper met them I knew they were good people. They were very responsive and sent a lot of pictures. That made me feel very comfortable leaving her and enjoying our activity. I definitely recommend Dustin and Allyson!”

“Wow, Tracy was an amazing pet and house sitter! We received precise and regular updates on our doggie and felt super comfortable and confident having Tracy in our home. Tracy also gave him lots of walks and loads of attention. We felt like our dog was in excellent hands.”

“Dieira has been amazing and our Izzy just adores her, she has stayed in our home do 2 plus weeks with no issues and checked in with sweet pictures regularly. We will definitely use her services again ☺️”

“Dakota, this review is written also as my gratitude. Thank you again for all your time and attention to my dogs for such a very long time (12 days!). They were content and happy when I got back. And the house was spotless! (You didn’t have to clean up!) I felt safe leaving them with you and deeply appreciated your daily updates and photos. I hope you and Spam would be willing to help us out again in the future 😊!!”

“Danielle was wonderful! She was very communicative throughout the stay and sent regular pictures and updates, which gave me great peace of mind. My dogs were clearly happy and well cared for when I got home. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.”

“Anna was great! She took great care of my dog and my place while I was gone! She communicates well, sends frequent updates. Will rebook with her in the future!”

About: New to Rover, but experienced 5-star house sitters on TrustedHousesitters. My husband Mikhail and I are a married couple based in Charlottesville. I teach high school math online, and Mikhail holds a PhD in Materials Science. We have flexible schedules and spend much of our time at home, which means pets in our care receive plenty of companionship, attention, and consistency throughout the day. Over the past year, we have completed successful house sits in multiple cities, caring for both cats and dogs while homeowners traveled. We have received wonderful reviews for our reliability, communication, and the care we provide to pets and homes. We are happy to share screenshots of our TrustedHousesitters reviews and references. One thing previous hosts often mention is how much attention we give their pets. We genuinely enjoy getting to know each animal’s unique personality and routine. Whether it’s a cat who wants to sit on a lap all afternoon, a playful kitten who wants constant company, or a dog who loves walks and outdoor adventures, we adapt to their needs. We also understand that owners miss their pets while traveling. That’s why we provide regular updates and photos so you can relax and enjoy your trip knowing your pets are happy, safe, and well cared for. We treat every home with the same care and respect we would want for our own, and our goal is simple: to make your time away completely worry-free. I teach high school math online and currently have a very flexible schedule, especially during the summer. My husband, Mikhail, is currently focusing on pet sitting full-time. Because of this, there is almost always someone at home to provide companionship, attention, walks, potty breaks, and care throughout the day. We are able to easily accommodate feeding schedules, exercise routines, medication schedules, and other pet-specific needs. Pets in our care are rarely left alone for extended periods of time. For house sitting, we believe pets are happiest when they can stay in their own home and maintain their normal routine. We take the time to learn each pet’s schedule, preferences, and personality so we can provide care that feels familiar and comfortable. We follow feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, playtime, medication routines, and any special instructions provided by the owner. We spend a lot of time at home, so pets receive plenty of companionship, attention, and supervision throughout the day. We also understand how important communication is while you’re away. We provide regular updates and photos so you can see how your pets are doing and enjoy your trip with peace of mind. In addition to caring for pets, we treat every home with respect and care, keeping it clean, secure, and well maintained while its owners are away.
About: What sets me apart is the level of love, patience, and personalized care I give every pet. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and needs so they feel comfortable and safe while you’re away. I’m experienced with puppies who need consistency, potty breaks, playtime, and basic routine reinforcement, as well as senior pets who may need a gentler pace, extra patience, medication support, or additional comfort. I also provide regular updates and photos so pet parents always know their furry family members are happy and well cared for. I’m able to help out on Monday-Friday or Saturdays and Sundays. Let me know what fits your needs and I will be more then happy to accommodate! I focus on making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved. Especially in their own home. I do not accept boarding as my currently home is renting.
“Megan was spectacular, stepping in with very short notice to dog sit my puppy for a week when my original sitter canceled a few days before I left. She took very good care of my dog a provided some very cute photos of the fun they were having”

About: I’m an experienced dog owner, hiker, and daily dog walker who genuinely enjoys spending time outdoors with dogs. For more than 20 years, I’ve cared for my own dogs as well as pets belonging to friends, family, and clients. I’ve worked with puppies, seniors, and dogs with special needs, and I’m comfortable following detailed feeding routines, giving oral medications, and caring for anxious or reactive dogs. Since I have a reactive dog of my own, I understand the importance of reading body language, respecting boundaries, and helping dogs feel safe instead of overwhelmed. Most mornings start with several miles on the trail or around the neighborhood with my own dogs, so active dogs who enjoy getting outside fit naturally into my routine. At the same time, I’m just as happy taking things slow with a senior dog who would rather wander, sniff, and enjoy a quiet walk. When your dog is with me, you can expect: • Calm, dependable care from someone who is comfortable managing multiple dogs • Safe, structured walks based on your dog’s pace and personality • Time to explore, sniff, play, or simply relax, depending on what your dog enjoys • Regular updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing I don’t believe every dog needs the same experience. Some love an adventure, some thrive on routine, and some are happiest curled up beside someone they trust. My goal is to figure out what makes your dog feel comfortable and make sure they have that while you’re away. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your dog and learn what makes them happiest. Most mornings you’ll find me outside before the heat sets in. I walk my own dogs every day, spend a lot of time hiking local trails, and genuinely enjoy being outdoors. Adding another walk or checking in on someone else’s pet doesn’t feel like work to me. It’s just part of a life I already love. I’m pretty low-key by nature, so I don’t rush through visits or watch the clock. If your dog wants to sniff every blade of grass, we’ll sniff. If your cat would rather sit quietly while I read a book than play, that’s okay too. I believe every animal has its own personality, and I try to meet them where they are instead of expecting them to fit into my routine. My goal is simple: when you come home, your pet has been well cared for, and you don’t have to wonder if they were just another stop on someone’s schedule. Whether I’m caring for your pet in my home or yours, I try to keep life as normal as possible. I stick closely to the routine you’ve already established because consistency helps pets feel secure. Meals happen when they’re used to eating, walks happen on their schedule, and medications are given exactly as instructed. I don’t believe every dog needs the same approach. Some want to play nonstop, some just want to sniff every inch of the yard, and some are happiest curled up beside you. I pay attention to what each pet is telling me and let them settle in at their own pace. I also know how reassuring updates can be when you’re away. I’ll send photos and let you know how your pet is doing, so you can enjoy your trip without wondering if everything is okay.
“Kelsey was great and very communicative. She took great care of my pups and gave me good updates on their day. She even got a good picture of Charles which I have a hard time doing with his puppy energy! She also left my home just as I left it. It was like I was never gone.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lake Monticello walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lake Monticello maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lake Monticello choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lake Monticello. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
